Metallic Marble Mylar Kaleidoscope (sold as each)

Magic Marble kaleidoscopes are great and these were just what I wanted. They make a nice, price-friendly little gift for anyone on your list. They are entertaining and unusually fun. as you can choose your own view that you want to see. With regular kaleidoscopes you have the inside already there. I have been using these as gifts for about 30 years.

A kaleidoscope makes pretty pictures with the help of colored glass, dried flowers or other colorful bits which are "fractured" through a set of prisms. A teleidoscope has a magnifying lens which "fractures" the things you see through it and is most effective when your surroundings are colorful.Teleidoscopes can be a lot of fun, and possibly they are safer for smaller children because there are no small parts which can fall out.However, I wanted another kaleidoscope for my collection since I already owned enough teleidoscopes. It's like getting a pickup truck when you ordered a convertible. That is why I only gave it three stars.I. Alde

As other reviewers have mentioned, this is not actually a kaleidoscope but a teleidoscope, which is just what I wanted. They are endlessly fascinating to look through. Quality is good for the price.

I was very diappointed with this product. It is very cheaply made. The tube is little more than reinforced papertowel-roll quality cardboard. Unlike other kaleidoscopes, the image does not change when the kaleidoscope is rotated and the image itself is very fuzzy, as if the lenses are clouded. The "lenses" appear to be no more than a half circle of plastic (guessing this is the "marble" they describe in the product title) on one end and thin bent platic on the other. This is promptly being returned! Its junk!

The title is misleading since this is a Teleidoscope, not a Kaleidoscope as mentioned by other reviewers. I enjoy that you can take this anywhere and use it to view different surroundings. Because of this I find it to be a little more versatile than a Kaleidoscope. It's perfect for everyday use. The cylinder is only cardboard, but it is very sturdy. They do send you a random color, but that isn't a very big drawback.

I thought Orbeez would look cool through this, but this is missing the "wow" factor. Seems to be too much diffraction and distortion, rather than crisp and clear bits and pieces of images. So I've ordered something now that claims to have quality mirrors in it - but of course, it's more expensive than this one...Update: Cottage Mills ColorScope Color Selector is both cheaper and has much better optics. Not designed for children and I didn't find anything on the packaging to state if it's glass or what. It's designed for quilters and it's very portable.

I really like this item although have to be careful so the covering does not peel off.
