Why did you pick this product vs others?: Got these for rear door speakers in my 03 tahoe with the factory bose system. Fit is perfect, and sound is even better.

If you are replacing a set of paper factory door speakers on a budget, these JBL Stage2 524s are an exceptional drop-in upgrade. At 5.25 inches, they hit the sweet spot for clean vocal separation and crisp highs without requiring extensive door panel modification or custom brackets in most vehicle applications. Power Handling & Sensitivity: Don't let the "420W Peak" marketing fool you—the metric that matters is the 35W RMS per speaker (70W RMS per pair). Because they have a high sensitivity rating of 90dB, they are incredibly efficient. You don't need a massive external amplifier to wake them up; a standard aftermarket head unit or even a factory radio pushes them to loud, clear volumes without clipping. Build Quality: The rubber surrounds and injection-molded cones feel durable and built to withstand the extreme temperature fluctuations inside a car door panel. The basket frame design is relatively shallow, keeping the top-mount depth just over 2 inches, which prevents any clearance issues with window glass regulators inside the door cavity.

Used these to replace my 2001 BMW e38 750il DSP door speakers, should work on 740 door speakers as well. all the holes line up, and the factory wires plug right in no issues. Way better than the 25+ year old dried up speakers that were there. No complaints!

Great speakers, used them to replace some Stern pinball speakers.

These were delivered without an outer box, just the factory box and had a big gash, but did not puncture the cone. Not ideal packaging for a speaker. I installed them and they sounded tinny and weak. Complete disappointment. I ordered s similarly priced Alpines, and they sound absolutely fantastic. JBL’s reputation is good from pre-90’s but these are garbage. Do not waste your time, money or energy here.
