what is the measurerment between the shelves?

The bottom shelf in the front is 13 inches but if you slip things under the side it is 14.25 inches. The top shelf is 12.25, but because of the draw you can't go higher or the drawer will be blocked from opening. Overall, the quality is great; all wood, sturdy construction, and excepts a lot of weight. Hope that helps.

The base is 36in. High and, 18" by 35"wide. The top is, 20" by40"

Can wheels be added to this cart?

Yes. The legs are square; 1 1/2" diameter. I attached floor glides to mine; I didn't want the extra height. The glides work well for me.
