100% Merino Wool Base Layer Men Leggings Pants - Thermal Underwear + Socks

Bought these for hikes and camps. I got the middleweight version and these are perfect for all but the warmest days when hiking, and great for keeping you warm at camp later. Bear in mind that sleeping bag temperature ratings are stated for a person wearing base layers like this so they're a must have if you want to be safe when approaching the comfort/limit temps of your bag. I'm a larger fellow and have had no issues with the fit. I actually ordered XL as opposed to XXL I often am in other clothing and the fit is fine, and they're quite stretchy so will hopefully continue to fit for some time as I lose weight. They don't fall down or anything and they are very good at stopping thigh chafing which is a huge issue for me if I don't wear something like this. The material is extremely warm and soft and comfortable and you forget you're wearing it (except for not feeling the wind chill on your legs on the summit). They'd be a little revealing on their own so I wear them under some lightweight sports shorts. They're not itchy or scratchy at all. I sweat quite a lot and they wick sweat away incredibly well and it's surprising just how well they keep your body at a comfortable temperature regardless of the conditions. They even keep you warm when they're wet from the rain, although I do still pack a spare dry synthetic pair of leggings (I'd pack another wool one but I can't afford it!) for sleeping in if I've got soaked on the hike. The anti-smell properties are great also - I can walk up a mountain, camp at the top, walk down, and take them off and smell the crotch area and it smells fine. If you were using them as longjohns under other clothing you could easily get a few days out of them. I did try them while running and they do stop chafing and help stop you getting cold while standing around in 5 degree weather waiting for a parkrun to start but even in that weather I found them quite warm after running a while so for this purpose, I'd probably get the lightweight pair instead. Washing them has been easy. I turn them inside out and wash with a wool detergent (nothing fancy, just ASDAs own), using the wool setting on my washer along with the other wool items I own. Then dry on an airer. Not noticed any damage from this so far. I got the black which look really good and go with anything but as we need to become more aware of ticks as time goes on, I'd probably get another colour now just so checking for them is easier.

Good mid-weight leggings/base layer, I have a number of these type but these are much thicker and warmer, well made and high waist so they stay up

These 320g base layer long John's are the real deal. Nice smooth against the skin,good heavy weight and very very warm. Ten out of ten brilliant thank you 👍

I love being outside to meditate; however, I don't like the cold. These bad boys add an extra layer of warmth that I really appreciate. Definitely worth spending that bit more.

Nogood telling the reader how good this is without referencing to others for comparison so here goes :- In the 1970's to 1980's I used long johns bought from high street stores and also Damart (thermal underwear). These may have been satisfactory for warmth but terrible for dealing with sweat. Since 1979 I have been using Helly Hensen (HH) Lifa (not Lifa Merino (not available then) interspersed with Damart. Lifa is great in handling sweating but didn't provide the warmth of Damart. Around 2010 spent two winters using HH Merino (not Lifa Merino). These gave a good compromise in handlign warmth and sweat. But HH Merino disappeared off the market; guess replaced by HH Lifa Merino. These are great and have been using them for the past 10 years. However, the HH pricing has gone strastospheric. Found anohter brand on Amazon offering merino (only, not like Lifa Merino with synthetic). However, these were very thin and thus disappointed. So came towards end of winter 2024/25 decided to continue searching - realised Merino.tech market 3 different thicknesses of merino base layers. Am happy to report that these 320 gsm (grammes per square metre) ones are the thickest pair of long johns I have tried for couple of decades. They are warm. However, don't reckon they deal with sweat as well as HH Lifa Merino - but then you have to consider the price, which is not £80 for the HH Lifa Merino. In summary, if these Merino.tech long johns lasts as long as those from HH, then these deserve 5 stars but it is too soon to tell. (I have had the HH Lifa Merino for 10 years and I also have HH Lifa (not Lifa Merino) for 20 years ..... so it maybe that spending more will mean longer lasting product. Time will tell but early sign is not comforting because the Merino.tech leaflet says hand wash only for their "Lifetime Warranty". Get Real! I won't have time to hand wash ! No, I will wash as per the way I do with the HH brand, 30 degrees on the wool cycle in a washing machine using non-bio detergent.) I am not born yesterday and I am not going to fall for that "Lifetime" nonsense because "Lifetime" means what ever the manufacturer wants it to mean and it's never as long as the customer expects.

I highly recommend this brand; their clothing is high quality, soft, and very comfortable. Ideal for outdoor sports or even for everyday use.

Matière très agréable, chaude, confortable. C'est une laine très fine et délicate. Je l'utilise surtout comme pyjama, occasionnellement comme sous-vêtement. Se lave sous programme laine délicat à 30°C et petite dose lessive extra-douce (Mir Laine) (j'utilise un filet). Essorage à petite vitesse (600t/min) pendant une dizaine de minutes. Suspendre pendant 30 à 40 minutes et il est prêt à lemploi. Attention : pas de séchage à chaud ! Toujours impeccable après une vingtaine de lavages

In lana merino al cento per cento, si possono usare tranquillamente tutto il giorno perché attivano un calore naturale, piacevole e duraturo. Sono anche certificati oeko-tex il che significa che sono senza sostanze cancerogene o pericolose. In omaggio c'è un paio di calzini in lana merino di ottima fattura dello stesso colore del pantalone che completano questo eccellente intimo da uomo. Ne ho già comprati due. Consigliatissimo.
