I work in a public high school, and this pencil sharpener is a favourite among students and staff. It's routinely called the best one in the school, since it's fairly quiet, but sharpens pencils to a nice point consistently without going lopsided, and stood up to a lot of use over the couple of years that I'd had the first one. I inherited one from someone who retired, so I don't actually know how long it had been in use, but I used it in the library for about 1.5 years before it died, which is a lot longer than some other sharpeners I've seen. As soon as the old one died, without hesitation, I knew I wanted this exact same model again. It may seem expensive, but it's worth it.
