Fitted perfectly
I changed my stereo from an Alpine INE-928R to an Alpine ILX-705D and this fitted perfectly, so very happy with it.

Works well once you've figured it out
I've just used this to install a double-DIN head unit in a 2008 Golf Plus (based on the Golf Mk5 platform). It actually works pretty well, but it does feel a bit flimsy; the two side panels are plastic and intended to be flexible, and they attach to the fascia with self-tapping screws (supplied). Two differently-sized surrounds to fill the gap between the head unit and the fascia panel are also provided. This entire kit is intended to be universal for both brand-name head units (which are all a standard front panel size) and no-name Chinese head units (which come in a variety of front panel sizes); if you have a brand-name head unit and want the simplest, cleanest, most factory-looking install possible, you might want to consider one of the fascia panels from an alternative supplier that's intended for use with standard-size front panels, as then you won't need a surround to fill the gap. It *doesn't* come with any screws for attaching the head unit to the side panels. Typically those are M5x8 self-tappers, but check the installation manual for your own head unit. Mine has etchings on the sides of the metal casing indicating that the screw length must be no more than 8mm. There are no instructions supplied, so you just have to figure it out yourself. Attaching the side panels to the fascia is obvious enough, but positioning the fascia relative to the head unit was frustrating at first. After a bit of experimentation, I found that the solution was to put the surround and fascia together, then position them on the head unit as a single assembly. It can be done solo (I did it), but a second person to screw the side panels to the head unit once you've got the positioning correct would definitely help. Once the fascia has been screwed onto the head unit, remove the surround, wrap the provided rubber band around it, and then put it back - it ought to snap into place with a bit of pressure (it did on mine). The band puts tension on the surround, sealing the small gap between the fascia and surround and holding the surround in place. Other reviewers have claimed it's expensive for what it is, but it seems cheaper than similar fascia panels from other suppliers - albeit those other fascias seem to come with metal side panels rather than plastic. Some other reviewers have stated that the included wiring harness leaves the head unit permanently connected to power. It's important to understand that this is actually *not* a fault of the harness, it's the way the car is wired. VW does *not* supply switched power on the head unit harness, and hasn't done since late 2001. The two power wires are permanent 12V. This is because VW changed to CAN bus messages, rather than switched 12V, to turn the factory head units on and off. There are two ways around this. One is to buy a special harness for aftermarket head units that includes a CAN bus module that emulates switched power - these cost about £60, and are plug-and-play. The alternative is to run a switched power feed directly from the fuse panel, which is what I initially did because a fuse tap and some wire is an awful lot cheaper. However, the drawback is that you have to have the ignition switched on to use the head unit, so you either need the engine running , or have the engine off but the dashboard lights on - not so great when wanting to listen to music when parked. I've since bought one of the above adapter harnesses.

Not fit for purpose.
Doesn’t not fit the oem slot for the T5.1, despite modification it still leaves large gaps around the outer edges and fails to hold the head unit securely. Tightening the provided screws to try to secure the unit and the plastic splits. Took longer to unbox than it did to throw in the bin. Save your money and spend a little more on a recognised brand.

Side mounting is all plastic
Once installed this looks a lot better than what I thought when I first opened the package, the side brackets needed to be attached to the facia plate with 3 screws which I found to be quite fiddly and they didn't seem all that secure. Once the radio was installed this did seem to hold everything together. Overall this is not bad but I think that this is quite expensive for an entirely plastic mounting and facia plate.

Just Superb
After being badly let down from another seller on Amazon who I went to first I found this kit from this seller which restored my faith. Quite simply if you want a kit to install your ISO Double DIN head unit in your Volkswagen, Skoda or Seat then this is the one, look no further. All I had to do was plug the 2 ISO blocks into the back of my new head unit, connect the custom Volkswagen arial cable to the arial adapter then plug this into the back of my new head unit and finally connect the large connector block to the Volkswagen connector block on the car and it was wired up successfully. The facia plate came with 2 plastic mounting holders on the sides which held my new head unit in place. And as another reviewer stated you can adjust how proud or flush the head unit sits. Also there was a selection of plastic & rubber finishing pieces to ensure a flush factory looking finish. Installed this in 1/2 hour and delighted with the result. Overall I would highly recommend this kit to anyone looking to install a new ISO Double Din head unit in their Volkswagen, Skoda or Seat.

Wiring Doesn't Work
All you're really buying is the surround, which is ok. The Wiring doesn't work. The stereo stays on when the key is removed and the immobiliser is triggered.

Ottimo prodotto
