Well made but not right for my purpose
I work in my recliner and went from a 13" laptop to a 15" laptop, so I needed something better than my lap. I got the nice satin-finished Bed Desk, which really is a well made and well designed product. It didn't work for my purposes, though, because the legs slide down in between the arms and the seat of the recliner and I might just as well have my laptop in my lap without the bulk. I wound up getting a Levenger Lap Desk, Dark Cherry (FA3045 DC) , which is just what I needed and what I wish I had bought instead. I'll still use the Bed Desk when I'm reading or eating breakfast in bed.

Tall and Highly Adjustable.
This lap desk is very well made. All the parts are solidly put together. There aren't wasted bits, and everything feels more like a nice piece of furniture than your typical lap desk. I really appreciate the fact that the desk can be placed at the precise angle I need, instead of at a pre-set angle. As with anything, this lap desk needed to fit my needs in order to work for me. I needed it to hold my patterns and supplies for stitching and knitting up and away from my cats while I craft in my chair or on the couch. The fact that the desk can be placed at any angle from 0 to 90, means that I can place my pattern and just the right viewing angle for me. I can avoid glare, and keep it from blocking my view of the TV. :) I also needed a lap desk that was tall enough that I can sit with my legs crossed underneath. This lap desk is tall enough for that, and for my smallest cat to fit on my lap as well. But, it's not too tall that I feel trapped in by it. The desk is kind of heavy, which doesn't bother me, but might be more challenging for someone who has severe lifting restrictions. That said, it's very easy to grasp and move by sliding, so the weight shouldn't be an insurmountable hurdle.I've been using lap desks for years, but this one has really met my needs perfectly. And I love the look. I chose to spend a tiny bit more for the satin finish, and I am very happy that I did so. The birch is gorgeous, and the satin shine looks stunning.

Nice bed desk to own--especially if you are recovering from surgery like myself....
Nice item. I haven't really used it yet; just had surgery, and am planning to use it to work with my IPad. Sturdily made. I'd definitely spend the little extra (as I did) and not buy the unfinished one. I'm sure this little Bed Desk will come in handy as soon as I feel well enough to use it.

Versatile, well made
My 90+ year old mother loves to read; however her arms have grown too weak and her fingers too numb to handle library books. This product has been a godsend. Her caregiver sets it up and Mom is ready to go. She has been in declining health and is now bedridden. This tray has made the transition with ease: sofa to lift chair to hospital bed. She is also using this when she eats. The lip which prevents the book from slipping now prevents food from slipping off the tray. The distance between the lip and the tray itself is the perfect size to hold a small carton of milk. My (disabled) husband tried it with his laptop and liked it so much that I ordered one for him. We all appreciate its portability and craftsmanship. Personally, I am happy to be supporting a product which is hand-crafted and made in the US.

Very convenient but didn't last more than a few months. Nail wedged out of socket from the wood.
It fell apart after a few months, perhaps from overuse. However, it was very convenient when it was all in one piece
