desertcart.co.uk Thanks to the long shadow cast by the group's blockbuster Rumours, this 1987 effort was inevitably regarded as something of a letdown. That's too bad, since it's an underrated set that contains plenty of inventively catchy tunes, with a quirky sonic edge that gives the songs added sonic and emotional depth. Lindsey Buckingham's eccentric, vaguely menacing "Big Love" is a standout, as is Christine McVie's brightly bittersweet "Little Lies", along with such dark-horse winners as "Seven Wonders", "Caroline", "Mystified", and Stevie Nicks's typically mystical "Welcome to the Room ... Sara". --Scott Schinder Review: Fleetwood Mac + 80s = Classic - In many ways, Tango in the Night typified the sound of the 80s and indicated (to me at least) that Fleetwood Mac had intentionally changed their sound to fit in with the synth-heavy trends of that era. For someone who grew up listening to and loving the 80s music, TITN was a sensational comeback album after a five year gap following their previous release Mirage (a great album in its own right even allowing that its impact was significantly less than its predecessors). As soon as the drum and guitar sequence comes in and then loops over and over in Big Love it's probably the closest that FM have come to a club/dance song since the tribal brilliance of Tusk. The first track on any album is key and Big Love was the perfect way to signal the start of a new 80's flavoured FM era. Family Man and You & I more or less follow the same template of a great dance groove coupled with a guitar-synth chord sequence that cries "80s" but in the hands of FM are quite brilliant and are worthy additions to their vast array of classic tunes. There isn't a weak track on the album (sure there are songs that I don't love as much as others but that's due to my own personal preferences) and for me TITN is up there with Fleetwood Mac's best long player. This box set is a little different to the other albums in the series in that there is no 5.1 high res mix and with one of the CDs featuring remixes of the songs that were released at the time. This makes sense given that the 12 inch extended remix of popular music reached its peak during the 80s and the remix CD is certainly a welcome addition to this deluxe box set. The sound on the vinyl is what you'd expect from a FM remastered album - a real treat for the ears. I'm no audiophile but I know what sounds good and TITN was always a fantastic sounding album and even more so with this remastered version. If you don't own this album and you love good music then Tango in the Night is a must-own. The deluxe version is highly recommended if you want the ultimate version of an absolute classic. Review: This is possibly my favourite Fleetwood Mac album. - I originally owned this album on cassette which I purchased back in 1987 when it was originally released and have played it to death ever since and only recently I purchased it on CD to replace the cassette version. This album is still a knockout and remains possibly my favourite Fleetwood Mac album I own. All of the songs on here are of a very high standard and it's no wonder that Fleetwood Mac were at the top of their game when they made this album. I just love it for what it is and that is a great album. The symbol start on the beginning track 'Big Love' is genius thinking and it probably explained why it opens the album. I couldn't really see it anywhere else except as an opening track. But this album spawned a handful of single releases including 'Big Love', 'Everywhere' and 'Little Lies'. Every track on here are tracks to sing-a-long to. Fleetwood Mac are and will be one of my favourite groups I listen to and they have produced some brilliant songs over the last 40+ years in their many guises. This Fleetwood Mac contained the members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. This group formation lasted until the early 1990's. This album most certainly propelled Fleetwood Mac into one of the best groups of the 1980's and their songs, especially in the 1970's and 1980's, played a part in my growing up and I think that they are a great band. As far as this album is concerned, Fleetwood Mac gave us, in my mind, one of the best albums of the 1980's. Great stuff.

This is possibly my favourite Fleetwood Mac album.

FM's last creative high-water mark
Following the good but commercially disappointing `Tusk' in 1979 and its unremarkable 1982 follow-up `Mirage', the five members of Fleetwood Mac went their separate ways and didn't play together for several years. `Tango in the Night' was the band's 1987 come-back, originally planned by Lindsey Buckingham as a solo project. It marks a return to form, and was eventually FM's second-best selling album worldwide after `Rumours'. The strongest songs are from Buckingham and especially Christine MacVie, who wrote the best two of the album's four hit singles, `Everywhere' and `Little Lies'. Christine & Lindsey also co-wrote `Mystified', `Isn't it Midnight' and the album's excellent closer `You and I part 2'. Stevie Nicks' contributions to TitN are more modest, as due to a persistent and unresolved cocaine habit she didn't show up to the studio for most of the sessions. `Welcome to the Room, Sara' is one only two songs penned by her, themed on her experience in rehab. This is the final collection from the classic line-up of FM prior to the departure of Buckingham and Nicks for several years, and a fine album. Christine MacVie (after 30 years on the road) finally left the band, moved back to England and retired from the business, but the remaining foursome is still touring in 2013 and many classic numbers from TitN still grace their sell-out stage performances, as popular as ever.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Fleetwood Mac had already had much success, you know, releasing little albums like "Rumours" and "Tusk," but they managed to hit it huge once more in 1987 with the release of this utterly brilliant piece of work. Thanks to four hit singles, "Tango in the Night" is actually the band's second most successful album, and the last to be recorded with the original lineup, as Lindsay Buckingham called it quits soon after this. The album reached the pinnacle in the UK, while peaking at #5 in Canada and Australia and #7 in the US, but went on to sell fifteen million copies worldwide, going eight time Platinum in the UK, five times Platinum in Canada, four times Platinum in Australia and three times Platinum in the US. The album served the band a run of hit singles. It started off with "Big Love," which peaked at #5 in the US and #9 in the UK while still making a valiant showing in Canada and Australia, hitting #12 and #16, respectively. The song also gave Fleetwood Mac their only charting US Dance single, where it actually peaked at #7! "Seven Wonders" didn't do quite as well, but still brought them back into the Top 20 in the US and Canada, hitting #23 in Australia and #56 in the UK. "Little Lies" brought them back into the US Top 5 (for the last time) and the UK Top 5, while repeating the success of "Big Love" in Canada and Australia with peaks of #13 and #16. "Everywhere," my favourite Fleetwood Mac single ever, made its way into the UK Top 5 again, while it gave them another US Top 15 hit. It hit #29 in Canada and #45 in Australia. While the hit singles ended there, "Family Man" was released as the fifth single. It failed to chart in Canada, peaked at #90 in the US, #54 in the UK and #83 Down Under. They decided to keep going and released "Isn't it Midnight" as the sixth and final single....which only impacted the UK charts by peaking at #60. This is one of my favourite albums of all time, and listening to it again, I am reminded just why. And the Deluxe Edition's remastering is solid. It is also very cool to have the thirteen demos, alternates and b.Sides associated with the album, including the full version of "You and I," which has both Parts I AND II," effectively giving us an extended version of one of the best album tracks! BUT, more than anything, I am SO THRILLED to have ALL the remixes of ALL the five remixed singles, courtesy of Arthur Baker and John 'Jellybean" Benitez...finally! And to have the artwork, which remains my single favourite album cover of all time, in the form of a box set is awesome. I read that there was criticism around the release of this 30th Anniversary anthology, as the second disc is only fifty-four minutes and they included no live performances, recorded or on DVD. Whatever...it includes a bunch of demos, all the alternate versions, b.sides and remixes...so, it's awesome!

Tolle Songs. Softrock at it`s best. Schade.

Ouvir o Tango in the Night em vinil é como redescobrir o álbum.
