It does not cut the stainless steel fret ends I bought it to cut.
When I saw this tool, I was hopeful about an affordable option for the StewMac version, but it did not work. The handles are too short and do not give the leverage needed to do the job that I bought it to do. Others might have better luck with the tool, but I need one that works. Perhaps it works better with nickel frets, but I use stainless steel, and this tool did not work.I wish it were a better experience.

Jaws not ground as flush as needed to get under worn frets
Not going to complain, given the low price. The handles are comfortable, and they are machined better than most low-cost metal tools. I'm only half-way through the first fret job I've used these for, so I can't comment on the hardness nor how long they'll stay sharp.I chose these because the pictures looked like the biting edge of the jaws was machined close to flat to fit flush with the fingerboard, and be the best choice to get under the excessively worn, excessively low frets I needed to remove. Unfortunately, they weren't machined acute enough for this job... I needed to use the corner of a toe nail clipper to lift one end of each fret enough to get a grip on them and pull them up and out.Using the fret cutters now to trim the length. They seem OK for this.I probably expect too much for what I am willing to spend on stuff, but I'm trying to be objective, regardless of cost.

Didn't cut
Like others have said I couldn't get it to cut regular stainless steel frets no matter how hard I pushed.Basically useless for what I need

Great Tool
Not fancy, but well-made and works well. Should last for years if you are a hobbyist luthier.

Fret puller? Yes. Fret cutter - no!
With all of my strength I could not cut a steel fret with these "cutters". Works fine as a fret puller but it does not cut stainless steel. They might be fine for nickel frets (although the reviews suggest not) but right in the name of the product it says "Stainless steel guitar fret cutter" and it is not able to do that one thing.
