Excellent & Bespoke!
A really very good collection that mops up 98% of the Band's catalogue, including the early Mini Album "Scar" & the E.P's ("Mad Love" & "Sweetness and Light"), that together formed the main body of the band's early, first compilation album "Gala".This box set also encompasses the three studio albums ("Spooky", "Split", & "Love Life") from their tenure (1989 - 96) with famed Indie Label 4AD, plus the second & final "Love Life" era compilation "Topilino".Both "Gala" & "Topilino" were originally Japan/ US compilations & originally available in the UK in import only form. Here they are re-presented & made available domestically in the UK for the first time, in limited quantity (& featuring additional bonus tracks, not on the original import only compilations).Contained within this plethora of digitally remastered treasures are all the single 'B' Sides (including the Former UK Vinyl tracks "I Wanna Be Your Girlfriend" & "Sweetie"), Radio Session Tracks, a Flexi Disc Track in the form of "Rupert" (audibly vinyl sourced, as presumably this one track has no master tape) & a handful of remixes to boot, that combined make this box set a compulsory purchase for both longtime (& new) afficionados of the UK "Shoegaze" music scene, 90's Brit Pop & collectors of seminal UK indie label 4AD.If I had to level one criticism at this Box Set it would be that due to efforts to cram so much of the Band's output into all available space over only five CD's, much of the bonus material is in non sequential, non linear order (with regard to the era the music originated from), on the respective parent discs, from which much of the bonus material is contained. If a sixth disc had been introduced to this set then perhaps it would also have created room to include "Last Night (Hexadecimal Dub)" & an early studio version of "The Childcatcher" from the "Love Life" era, which are not present here.Great attention to detail has been made in relation to retaining the same cohesive artwork design that is intentionally complimentary to that of the original design aesthetic of the Band's original 1989-1996 4AD output (replete with the paper texture of the linear notes), all of which is noted & appreciated here. That may be perceived as a negative by some, as the original releases rarely featured illustrations of the Band, it therefore follows that the illustrations (of which there are several here), do not focus on the Band either. My advice is to snap this box set up while you can as it has already doubled in price from the original £28, that I purchased it for as a pre-order (in November 2015), making it a genuinely limited edition, bespoke item.I look forward to the re-grouped Lush (now featuring Justin Welch, formerly of Elastica who now takes over from long deceased, original Drummer, Chris Acland) & the groups brand new "Blind Spot" EP (their first material for 20 years), which is scheduled for release in April.

Eagerly awaited but a disappointing rush job
I grew up with Lush, buying Scar in Dublin's Comet Records during a record shopping trip just before Christmas 1989 and spending many evenings with Lovelife during a boozy 1996. The Rock Garden gig for the Spooky tour was particularly memorable. So I was looking forward to a long-awaited career-spanning box.Chorus is a nice-looking set but the quality control is poor.- I have the second pressing and guillotine used to separate the pages must have been blunt.- The Split sleeve is er, starting to split.- It's impossible to get the CDs out with handling the playing surface.- Three of the CDs have skipping tracks.- The sound is excessively compressed and way too loud. The original 4AD CDs sounded really good. And it's incomplete. They should have stretched to a sixth CD and included the following:Deluxe (Radio Edit)Sweetness and Light (7" Version)Nothing Natural (7" Version)For Love (Single Version)Superblast! (Remix)Lovelife (Suga Bullit Remix)Last Night (Hexadecimal Dub Mix)Last Night (Latent Power Mix),Last Night (Darkest Hour Mix)Last Night (Latent Power Mix)Ladykillers (Demo-Ruff Mix '95)Lit Up (Evening Session 1994)Demystification (Mark Radcliffe Session 1996)The Childcatcher (All Virgos Are Mad)Tinkerbell (Demo from Volume Compilation)Light From A Dead Star (Instrumental)Some sleevenotes or essays / track commentary would also have been nice. The whole thing feels a little bit rushed.I accept that the price is very reasonable (I paid £23) but a far better approach would have a bigger box with each CD in its own jewel case and a separate booklet. And what's the point in compiling 90% of their output when another disc will bring it up to 100%I'd gladly pay double the price if it was done correctly.

Great music but!
I agree with most of the comments already made. The music is great but there are significant quality control issues over the packaging (all style and no substance - compare with Joy Division/New Order box sets) to make things worse the have attempted to put too much content on each CD. Once there is 76 plus minutes of music on a CD there is always the risk of skipping and jumping. They should have added an additional CD to resolve problem. All in all a bit disappointing 4AD.

Excellent music, poor quality control.
I received my box today, second pressing I guess? Unfortunately like a previous customer disc 1/2 were unplayable so it is going straight back to Amazon. I have most of the music on the original CD's so 5 stars for that, but there is some poor quality control somewhere. I shall probably order it once more and hopefully get a good copy.

Arrived today and plays fine. It's also insanely good
Having read some of the reviews, I had my concerns regarding playback issues. I needn't have bothered. Arrived today and plays fine. It's also insanely good. I'd buy it while you can. Suspect it may become an expensive thing looking at the prices being asked already.
