They listened to the criticism and made it a great knife. It is now tip up. I have 2 from Amazon.

if you look in "product information" section, there is a link to "tell us [amazon] about a better price" at the very end. i would imagine if enough people were to fill this out, amazon might change their price (4 years down the line).

Q: How does the blade lock, is it a liner lock?

This knife is a liner lock. The liner is steel that is not milled out.

Q: so this is the real deal? s35vn 100% and heat treated well?

Oh yeah, definitely the real deal S35VN. Well...I suppose it might be CPM M4, or Elmax, or M390, or Maxamet, or CTS-XHP. I dont beat up knives under harsh conditions enough to parse the subtle differences between the premium "super steels," so it could be a different variety with equal or superior characteristics. The only thing to keep in mind is that how a steel is heat-treated, cooled, and otherwise handled in the forging process will make a huge difference in performance, and this knife just won't take the ultra razor-fine edge that my "name brand" S35VN blades will; I'm sure that comes down to forging expertise. But this blade is still lovely, and if youve never owned anything more premium than 440C and/or 8Cr13MoV, this steel with blow you away.
