Great Picture and Sound Level...Close to OLED Quality
My living room already has a fantastic 65inch LG OLED, and I was going to buy a smaller OLED for the bedroom but thought I'd take a chance on The TCL 50QM8. Good (and much cheaper!) decision! After a 15 mins physical set-up followed by connectivity set-up via the Google Home app on my phone, my fussy eyes were immediately happy with the superfine colours, including wonderfully deep black levels that I got used to on my OLED. Sound wise, I was surprised by how loud it gets; overall sound quality is superior to other sets of this size and perfect for day-to-day viewing. For bass lovers like me, my old soundbar and sub will be handy, but they are not essential; the QM8 is a very good all-round performer. I was worried that I might be disappointed with the viewing angles, but they are absolutely fine. The split/multi-screen feature was a surprise, allowing me to watch live TV and You Tube (or something else) side by side from my phone via screencast. I can then switch between both feeds to listen to the audio for the one I want to hear.As other reviewers have pointed out, BBC iPlayer, 4, and other UK specific TV apps are not included, so a letter in the box asks you to make contact with TCL if you require a fix. I contacted them and they put me through hoops with their requirement for proof of purchase in the form of a VAT invoice. What/why?!! My official Amazon order invoice/number wasn't good enough. So, after a back and forth of emails and me sending the invoice from Amazon, the Chromecast dongle was sent the next day. TCL, that's 0 stars from me for your polite but nonsense apps/dongle issue. If you're going sell your televisions in the UK, then please ensure that they perform as expected out of the box.The missing apps dongle nightmare aside, the remote works well but isn't backlit like the US model. The voice control works hands-free or by the press of a button, and you can also use Alexa to control functionality. The Google smart features work fast enough for me, and definitely quicker than my LG Web OS. Overall, this is a great TV at a reasonable price.Update, July 2024: I decided to return the QM8 and go for the C38K 55 inch instead, mostly because the picture quality is just as good but is 1500 nits rather than the over-bright 2000 nits (for my bedroom) on the QM8 - as confirmed by TCL, but I wanted the built-in subwoofer, which makes an audible difference, even if only slight. The price was exactly the same, thanks to an Amazon deal offer. Again, the picture quality and overall performance is the same, but bass sub matters to me. TCL also confirmed that they will be rolling out a firmware update within the next month or so that will install the missing Apps, doing away with the need for a dongle. We shall see!Update Nov 2024: TCL have added many TV Apps including 4, ITVX. Still no BBC iPlayer app, but you can cast it to the TCL from your phone and it works just fine. Will update further in due course.

Great upgrade
Pro's- Great picture especially for the price (you do need to play around with settings though to find the right one for you and I Imagine it will depend on room).- I'm using Sky which has a HDR output and that gives a really lovely picture. Also as I use most of the apps through sky (Netflix, Prime, Disney etc) they get a great picture too.- Sounds is actually pretty good for a thin TV- Copes with blacks pretty well. Been watching solar system and lots of deep black with bright lights and watching in a dark room I was genuinely impressed.- Set up was very easy, device was light and easy to maneuver- My Xbox series X works really and picture is great with no noticeable lagCons- UI is 'ok' on the homepage and does autoload Sky when I switch sky on, but the UI on the homescreen is ok, without being world beating- The besel and base is fine, without being inspiring- More ability to use screen as a photo frame, screen etc would have been great.- Movie mode in settings, even in the darkest of room is basically unwatchable

Good.value very bright
This tv is good value for money. It's extremely bright. You need to make big changes to picture settings. Great picture when you get it right.

TCL 65 C855
The media could not be loaded. First impression on delivery, the box for TV is half open and a bit crushed, not a good start and a flimsy bit of sellotape across the top of the box.Opening the box to remove the usual suspects remote and stand etc, the stand had one of rubber legs/stub missing, not good.First of all I'm not a TV Calibration expert or reviewer just a TV user, I've owned Sony and Samsung TV's over the years. This time I thought I would have a change and try something different.I took a chance and bought this TCL65C855 based on reviews of the previous model C845.I've been 50 50 about this Tv not seeing any reviews, but after 2 weeks use and seeing some reviews filtering through I'm keeping it.This is what my eyes are showing me.You have to play around with motion and Judder settings and turn off Energy settings, which might be a bit much for some people but to be honest it's worth playing around with. The blacks on this TV are just amazing, phenomenal I don't know how they did it, but my goodness they have made a seriously badass TV.What you get with this TV are all the formats, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, DTS this etc etc basically everything.I just watched a YouTube review on Chigz channel, TCLC855 Vs Samsung QN95D the Samsung is £1600 more than the TCL and I could not see £1600 worth of difference between the two.I was going to purchase the Samsung QN95C last year's flagship, but I took a chance and bought this and I am not disappointed.I've just watched some football England vs Ireland game, motion on this TV is excellent minimal to no motion blur on the ball or fast moving objects, if there is go to motion settings.Watched some stuff on Freeview some of it was crap and some upscaling was ok and some was good, the football looked excellent on ITV HDWatched Stanley Kubrick's 2001 A Space Odyssey 4k from my hard drive plugged into the USB3 port, the blacks on this TV are phenomenal for mini led.Ok I've only had it 2 weeks and I don't know the long term reliability or longevity, see what we're like in six months to a year🤔Paid £1300 , You will probably get it in a sale, I don't care the TV is worth every penny, An absolute Steal. But for now TCL and other Chinese TV Manufacturers are going to cause major disruption and headaches to the Establishment Brands for the money you pay and what you get, this TV just can't be beaten, the more I watch this TV the more I love it👌This TV is Excellent ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
