Best Acrylic Paints Ever
Golden paints are the best. Highly pigmented and easy to work with The open range has an extended drying time so you can go back and rework the paint up to four days later. I bought these paints to create my first commissioned painting and the buyer loved the way the colours popped.

Fluidity
Doesnโt dry that fast and I love the fluidity of the paints!

Different to work with from regular acrylics
I guess if you are painting plein air these would be good because they do not dry fast on the canvas . However they are far more transparent than regular acrylics, and they cannot be applied thick on the canvas to achieve any texture. If you want dense immediate coverage, these are not your paints. Multiple layers are required for a finished product. Almost like using a variation of a watercolor. Interesting to try, however I will stick with regular acrylics.

Excellent alternative to oil paints. Try it, you'll like it!
Super product! I've been working with Blue Ridge Oils, but wanted to keep my "feet wet" with acrylics, so thought I'd try the Gold OPEN. Very nice feel to these paints, excellent coverage, super saturation. The addition of the OPEN Thinner extends the drying time even further. Close enough to oil that I think it is an excellent alternative. The landscape set doesn't include black, so I had to mix a gray using ultramarine blue, alazarin crimson and cadmium yellow. Egg idea from Tisch Academy, a terrific training site with a dynamic instructor.

Dries too fast
I'm an oil painter but wanted to revisit the open line of acrylics. I just couldn't work it very well like I can work and blend oil. It still dries way too fast for my taste. You'll need an extender if you need a longer drying time.

Yep - great for what it is
No surprise here. Golden has a great reputation for good reasons. I oft render in smooth realism, as with oils, when working with acrylics. Two brands make this easy - at least two I've been able to get and use: Grumbacher Academy - yes that's correct - Grumbacher Academy, and Golden Open. Grumbacher Academy is ground so finely it makes smooth blending easy. Golden Open is also finely ground - but stays open longer. Golden offers an acrylic that gives you plenty of time for more subtle blending and rendering work. Expensive - yes. Worth it - yes.
