Hikari 12-Ounce Cichlid Excel Sinking Pellets for Pets, Mini

This is the only food I've found that is well formulated for my Malawi cichlids. This is an all vegetarian food just like they would obtain in the wild. Healthy and happy fish!

My mbunas eat this stuff up. I like the sinking pellets as floating foods go into skimmer. Probably not the best option for all cichlids like South American since they want more protein.

It's a little bitter for me but our African Cichlid, Louis, loves it!

my cichlids love it very good food had no problems good price even my baby convicts can eat this because it is very small. for Oscars doesn't work to small. sinks right away not slow sinking like others doesn't cloud water doesn't leak dye like the red food does. overall 5 stars.

Hikari is the only food that I will feed my African cichlids and the product was as advertised and was a reasonable cost.

I use this in combination with Hikari Cichlid Bio-Gold Plus, Hikari Cichlid Gold Sinking, and Zoo Med Spirulina. (Not all at once) This size is actually a little smaller than the mini of the gold version, so my smaller juvie yellow labs can actually put them in their mouth. All my fish are eating them, then again, my fish are not picky, they eat everything I've tried with them from fresh blanched veggies to this stuff. I've never really tried giving them "lower quality" foods, so I'm still pretty satisfied with this brand! I added the Excel to my routine just to make sure they're not getting too much protein from the others. All fish other than fry/babies only get fed once a day.

I can never find this in the pet stores in my area. I currently feed this to my African Cichlids, a tank of about 50 now. They eat it much better than any other pellet I have ever gotten for them. I swear by OmegaOne, but they will go for the Hikari more than the other. I highly recommend, even if you switch foods every few days, to rotate their diets. I've ordered this several times, it's always within reasonable delivery time frame and always fresh. Your fish will love this stuff!

My African Cichlids LOVE this food. Their color is vibrant and they can't wait when I approach the tank. The previous food I used gave my water a reddish tint and it was really evident when I cleaned the filter. This food leaves nothing!
