3 years later - What to know, other options, Plex Server, System Administrator
Right off the bat I had issues not with the board but the video card for the board. Once that got replaced all was good. The board is a beast. It handled my raid controller card flawlessly (and that is way older than it), the video card for transcoding, and runs Plex smooth as butter. You can see the image attached to review it connects to 2 towers totaling 28 hard drives raided together and hot swap-able, OS on a separate ssd drive, and one internal separate drive I keep important documents separated from Plex on SATA disc. The 10gbps makes life so much easier when encoding hevc files to transfer from main pc upstairs to the Plex server over the ASUS RT-BE88U router. I do NOT game on this machine however the video card is for trans-coding purposes Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Founders Edition. This card was faulty and NVIDIA did upgrade it to a newer model. All that being said the startup was a bit pain but that wasn't gigabyte's fault rather NVIDIA or should I say the seller of the card's fault. All memory slots are capped and this review is from 2026 3 years AFTER I purchased and built the machine. The un-packing was beautiful I might add. Very impressed. This is my 5th Gigabyte board. My 1st just died on me yesterday from 2005 my 2nd gaming PC from ICC days on WoW. It was converted to my torrent server back in 2019. My 4th one is my main PC in my office built also in 2023 X670E AORUS Xtreme. What I like most about these boards is their broad versatility in options and features. I don't like everything being "onboard" rather I like to pick and choose my items to be placed onboard. Originally Gigabyte didn't include onboard audio, network, etc... I kinda wish it was still that way. That being said it's still one of the best boards with the least amount onboard items with quality built in. It's a beast, its handled everything I've thrown at it. This is a matter of quality over quantity.
