More holes
This is most definitely a better basket than the stock Sage one. However as the basket is wider and has more holes which was the point in buying it. Now my coffee flows much quicker than through the Sage basket and I need to get used to that. But, the coffee tastes great so… Overall I like it.

5⭐️
I was surprised about this. I've only just gotten into the whole espresso thing, and what a black hole it is, lol! I was using the Bambino Plus basket. I thought I'd change, so with the same coffee beans, grind, and flow rate, the flavor was completely different in a good way. I'm no expert, but by heck, it made a massive difference. Now I'm coming from a stock basket to this basket. Coming from a high-quality basket to this basket, I can't comment if you would see a difference. For me it's a 5⭐️ review 👍

Quality Upgrade!
Nice upgrade to the stock Barista Express basket, I have the 23.5 and 25.5 versions, 23.5 is closer to stock, 25.5 takes about a 20g load, a lot more consistent in back to back shots for me but I imagine experience may vary on the off chance your stock basket came perfect out the box.

Really improved coffee taste, but took a few tries to dial in perfectly
Got the h23.5 that fits in the stock Sage Barista Express portafilter just fine. I grind 18g and fits just fine. One thing to note is that with the perfect time/weight out ratio the puck is never dry, it’s always a bit soggy. It took me a while to get the grind size right…But it has massively improved the taste of my medium dark roast (Rand House Blend) coffee beans. I didn’t taste chocolate and nutty notes in my coffee when using the stock Sage double shot basket, but it really helps bring the flavours of your coffee beans out. For reference, I always make a cortado or cappucino. Make sure you dial in your grind size and judge off taste as well as shot time & weight out. Don’t judge off a wet puck or you’ll think it doesn’t work; I got a dryer puck with the stock Sage basket but the taste is massively improved with the IMS Big Bang.

Produces different espresso, not better espresso
Before purchasing the IMS big bang basket, I was using the IMS precision basket; They both produce very different but equally enjoyable shots of espresso. The big bang basket seems to pull out quite a lot of acidity in its shots comparatively to the precision basket. This isn't particularly pleasant to my palate as I don't enjoy acidic coffee. I would prefer a touch of bitterness in my shot of espresso rather than a touch of acidity any day of the week (as traditional as that may be). What I do enjoy are some of the more complex flavours that the acidity brings with it. Before using the IMS big bang basket, I had never truly tasted any of the tasting notes that I saw on a bag of coffee beans, but I can actually taste dark chocolate, berries, stone fruits, etc. by using the IMS big bang. Some days, it might be worth it for me to experience the touch of acidity just to also experience the true flavours of the coffee, but most days I'll use the IMS precision basket as my default basket. I really do detest acidity in coffee. Additionally, I have noticed that the IMS big bang produces what feel like thin shots. I think this is what coffee snobs call body? But it doesn't feel like espresso shots from the IMS big bang really coat your tongue with texture. It makes the flavours more obvious to your tongue but the texture is less thick and syrupy. I'm not sure if this is related in any way but shots from the IMS big bang just don't seem to stand up to milk very well either, so lattes are very dull with this basket. Here's my recommendation: Get the IMS big bang basket if you: - like acidity over bitterness - really value tasting those origin characteristics of your coffee - have no intention of making milk-based drinks Get the IMS precision basket if you: - like bitterness over acidity - really value texture and boldness in your coffee - intend on making straight espresso or milk-based drinks

Not same internal size
The internal diameter is bigger than the 54mm so all my tamper and levelling tools Don’t work properly with it.
