Best dry shampoo I've ever used. I have dark hair and this doesn't leave white residue. A little goes a long way too

Woah. This stuff is powerful. I've recently gone cruelty free in all things, which means my favorite aerosol dry shampoos are no longer an option. I've never used a powder before and I assume all responsibility for my first uses of this product, which I'll get into, but I'm never going back to the other dry shampoos even if they do become cruelty free. For one thing, this shampoo has very little fragrance but the fragrance it does have is divine. There is absolutely no chemical smell whatsoever -- which can never be said for the cans. Also, at only one ounce it's already lasted twice as long as the others (I've had it about 5-6 weeks) and I'm not even halfway through it. You need such a tiny amount of this product and the application is beautifully precise, without the expense of most of the product dispensing all over the bathroom. I was worried at first about its efficacy but that turned out to be absolutely ridiculous. Where I had my issue was due to inexperience. I thought that because I always needed so much from the cans I would need a lot from the powder. Nope. The first time I used it I used way way too much and it worked so well I had to wash my hair because my scalp was so dry it was itching like crazy, and it had worked itself so well down the hair shaft I couldn't get a brush through it. Once this powder is in your hair, it keeps working long after application. And working. The second time I used it, I was far more conservative, but still used too much and cut in in half again. Now that I've gotten the hang of it I will never, ever use anything else. The best way to use it: Don't bother with the parts of your hair that won't be seen because this product will quickly work its way there. Use it only where you need it most, in sections *no smaller* than one inch. Depending on your hair type I may even go two inches (which I do -- I have fine, bleached hair but a lot of it). Trust me, after a small amount of time, the product will get there on its own. It also definitely gave my roots a lift. I can't say if the powder is visible or not because I have pastel pink hair, but when I would use any dry shampoo on my naturally dark hair (pre-bleaching), I found that if you use it the night before there is no whiteness at your scalp the next morning. I imagine the same should be true for this powder. Just buy it, teach yourself how to use it properly and be happy. It's actually a fraction of the cost of what I used to buy in cans now that I think about it (and way better for the environment). If I could buy stock in this company I would. Also -- the no-mess applicator is a thing of beauty. I wonder what else they've got? ;-D

I used Tap Secret (another brand) in the past and liked it, but this one was cheaper so I tried it. The powder is just as good, and the smell is MUCH better. I liked the scent a lot. The problem is the applicator. I have to bang my head to get enough out. I ended up pouring it in my old Tap Secret applicator and using it from that and it's great now.

I’ve been trying all the different dry shampoos and there’s pros and cons to this one. I loved how it kept my hair looking clean all day. The smell isn’t overwhelming. The applicator was kinda sucky at first. I had trouble getting anything out when patting my head, so I just poked some holes in the top to fix that. I noticed this one is by far the hardest to wash off my hair. It almost absorbs the shampoo the first time, then after the second shampoo you’ll begin to get suds. I’ve tried a few non aresol fry shampoos so far and it’s definitely not the worst.

I read people complain about the sponge and I have realized that it’s there because you really only need so little. Aerosol sprays use so much to work properly. This product is one of those “less is more”. It’s best to use it at night before bed. The next day your hair looks airy and clean. If the day after that you feel greasy again just rub your scalp before you put anymore on. Usually you just need to rework it around. I found out how strong this is when I decided to use a toothbrush to scoop a tiny bit of the powder and sprinkle it on my head. BIG MISTAKE. My scalp was so insanely dry and itchy I had to wash it out. So that sponge really makes sure you use the right amount and evenly place it on your roots. I have black hair and I see no white residue when I use this which is really nice. The smell is very light and I usually flip the container upside down and give it a few taps before opening and using it.
