I bought this pad about two weeks ago to help with back soreness. I didn't want something too thick that would cause saddle fitting problems, as it already fitting correctly but needed additional padding for my TW/Thoroughbred cross. He has always had a sensitive back and I have tried several pads that have not worked. When i first saw this pad, I loved that it had the gel padding on top and the additional non slip texture on the underside as well. I was a little nervous about the length of the pad because I ride in a 17in seat and didn't want the pad to stick out too far in the back. After receiving this pad, I imminently noticed the quality of the pad, gel pieces and fleece. It is very well made w/ great quality materials. Secondly, I really liked the fit under my saddle and it provided additional cushion far enough back that I would protect the area that my horse was usually sore. It also includes the straps to attach to the saddle, which is a nice feature. Thirdly, the first time i rode with this pad i was competing in a Mounted Games competition so there is a LOT of movement (hanging off the side of the saddle at high speeds, weaving in and out of objects and lots of dismounts and vaulting back on) and the pad never moved!!! Most importantly, MY HORSE HASNT BEEN BACK SORE SINCE AND I DIDNT HAVE TO COMPROMISE SADDLE FIT!! My horse and I are so happy to have found this pad and can't wait to get more of these items in the future! highly recommend!!

I have been looking at these for a couple of years, since we have multiple horses and saddles and getting the right fit for each horse is so critical. This half pad has made an immediate improvement to saddling our horses. Its great, because it goes between the saddle and the saddle pad ( so can travel between horses, as needed.) It seems to really give nice relief for the horse, solves small saddle fit issues. Obviously this won't solve the problem of a poor fitting saddle, but for better weight distribution, etc, on an existing saddle, it really does the job! Although I haven't yet used it with a western saddle, I plan to and think it will work perfectly for both western and dressage saddles. I will likely buy another, and make even more horses happier under saddle. When I first took it out of the package, I was a bit disappointed in the cushion, but then realized it is actually really nice and the memory foam is excellent. Worth the investment for sure!

I was previously using just a basic fur-lined half pad but I felt like it wasn't providing my horse sufficient comfort. As soon as I started using this, I felt my horse was a lot more comfortable across his back and it was more comfortable for both of us during rides. The material is more breathable than the fur-lined half pads. I would say its 'oversized' and quite big under my saddle but works well. Seems good quality, i've used it for a couple weeks now and it's gone well.

My sensitive mare loves this pad and rounds up nicely under saddle now. I love the shock absorption for my back too. Highly recommend

This is a well made product and I wish I could use it more BUT I regret buying it. I knew my horse was back sore and I was trying to compensate poor saddle fit with chunky, expensive pads. Turns out both my vet and the saddle fitter were not fans of this pad. Just spend the money on a properly fitting gullet/saddle.

Best half pad! This half pad is substantial with plenty of cushion. Makes the ride for both me and my horse so much better. Highly recommend!

This is a nice easy fix for my dressage saddle which is just a bit wide on my dad's horse. This not only looks nice, but it seems to do a pretty good job of filling in the space and creating a better fit for the saddle. It stays in place really well. It breathes well too, which is nice because this horse is a wooly mammoth and sweats a lot.
