Replacement old spreader design improved sturdier

After trying and getting fed up with spreading lawn feed and moss killer by hand, opted for this as a cheap option. The gardens larger than average, but not huge, so didn't want to go all out on something that wouldn't really be used all that often. Very pleased with the decision, this thing works great. The adjustable settings work great for different spreads, for the feed we had it on around a 3, and for reseeding, varied between 8 and 9. Gets great even coverage, and doesn't spread wider than the wheels - very useful for going near the borders. One thing to note, as its gravity fed, it keeps on pouring when you're stopped. May seem obvious, but didn't think about it and ended up with a small pile by my feet! End of the day, this has one purpose, and it does that very well. Cant complain after that! Pros - Simple and easy to use - Light and easy to manoeuvre - Decent hopper size - Even spreading up-to width of wheels Cons - Cheap feeling materials - Assembly was mostly good, except the stand wouldn't go on until a drill was involved

Far better than I had expected. It is far more robust than I thought it would be for the price. Easy to assemble. It has an easily operated adjustable drop opening for different size seeds, which works well. It will not last forever....but it will certainly be very adequate for medium sized gardens for quite a number of years. Very pleased with it.

We bought this spreader only because it was from the same manufacturer as all the products we bought to treat our lawn which has lots of moss growing through it and wanted to make sure we use correct settings. PROS: - cheap - lightweight CONS: - The rate adjustment lever is very inaccurate and the grooves to lock it in position are made of a very thin (I mean very thin, not even 1mm in thickness) plastic so it's not holding the lever properly and not going to last (ours started losing its shape just after one use). - It's not very sturdy even when empty, the handle is wobbly and when lifting the spreader with seeds in it, it feels like it might come off any time - the product is simply not doing what it's designed for properly. We set it to 0, filled it evenly with the Westland All-In-One and then started rolling it over the lawn with setting 3. After we finished we had a closer look at the lawn and noticed that hardly any granules have been dispensed. We left it hoping that perhaps that's what's required, after a week there was no difference in the lawn and moss was untouched. Today, we tried lawn sand from Westland hoping that it will be better as it's much finer so we repeated the process and although the sand did come out, it did so unevenly because some of the holes got clogged up very fast. We're hoping it hasn't ruined our already mossed infested lawn. - It leaks even when on setting 0 as the tiny particles get underneath the plastic slider (that controls the size of the holes) and preventing it from closing properly. Even if you clean it upfront it will stop working as soon as you fill it up again. - it's not the same item that is on the pictures, it's some updated version with plastic leg (not the metal one) and the adjustment lever between the handle, not on the side (mine was sent by Amazon) We had high hopes for this spreader after reading all the reviews but unfortunately have to send it back. Perhaps ours was just faulty. Who knows but we don't want a replacement and will try a different brand instead.

Not too easy to assemble alone. The recommended number to use for fertilizing the grass distributed more granules than required and setting it on other numbers did not rectify the problem so I finished up with large dark patches over the lawn which I hope disappear eventually.

As the other review highlight this differs slightly from the spreader shown. I have fertilised my lawn with Westland Triple Action fertiliser. It’s important the gague is set Zero before you start filling. On spreading l set the gauge to 5 as the fertiliser came out @ a fair rate. The important thing is to start walking when ready to use the spreader as fertiliser will be coming out @ bottom. I bought the spreader for a reason & it does the job @ hand. Assembly took 3-5 mins yes it’s super easy to put together. You get three screws 2 flat head & other one is self tapping. The flat head screws are for putting on & securing the wheels to the spreader along with 2 washers. The self tapping screw is for the extending of the stand @ front. I WILL be abit fiddly for some people to secure but l strongly suggested using a magnetic screwdriver for this part, l am very happy product it the job it’s ment to do 👍

I’m no Alan Titchmarsh or lawn expert but this did the job for me that I wanted it to do - spread seed for over seeding. Took about 5 minutes to assemble and it was ready. Build quality is a bit cheap but what do you expect for this price? I found setting 5 worked good and the seed came out at a good rate and landed where I wanted it to. This will get used once or twice a year and then be back in the shed so for me it’s good value for money. No complaints, recommended.
