โletโs see what happens,โ
Yep, it works. Plugged it in, hooked it up, app fired right up like it knew what it was doinโ. No complaints there. Now the way they tell you to mount that little sensor? Nahโฆ didnโt feel like runninโ wires all the way down the door like Iโm stringinโ Christmas lights. So I got creative. Swapped it out for a **normally closed magnet switch** (Instead of a normally-open switch ) and bolted that sucker up by the opener on the ceiling where it belongs. Hereโs the deal: * Door goes up โ magnet lines up โ circuit breaks โ app says โdoorโs openโ * Door goes down โ magnet splits โ circuit closes โ app says โall good, shutโ Simple. Clean. No spaghetti wiring hanginโ everywhere lookinโ like a bad haircut. Been runninโ solid ever since. Ainโt missed a beat. If youโve got a screwdriver, half a brain, and a little bit of โletโs see what happens,โ youโll be just fine. Would I buy it again? You bet your last cold one I would ๐บ

Remote garage door opener
This works really good. Simple to set up. Let's me know if the for is open or closed. Alexa links in really easy. Recommend this for somebody looking for a way to remotely open the door when a remote isn't an option.

App issues
Product works opens garage. My issue is with APp. that operates it. Iโve tried every suggestion but nothing works. We have 2 cars that fit in one garage. We need 2 phones to have access simultaneously to operate garage door Every time I add or share it removes app from one of the phones. Doesnโt make sense. Not working for our needs

Sensor / magnet orientation doesn't matter
So far the device is working as expected. I use the SmartLife app and it recognized the device as soon as it powered up. So I can't comment on the App they recommend. I've turned on some alarms but have not tested all the alarm functionality. Getting an alert that the door is still open after X (configurable) amount of time is a nice feature. The instructions are fair at best. They are a poor translation from Chinese. The picture of how to mount the sensor in the instructions is very small and blurry. Fortunately, a better version can be found on the Amazon descriptive pictures. The sensor is shown mounted with the mounting screws in the same plane--that would have been very hard for me. There is no detail on mounting options. So I tested the sensor before I mounted it. Thankfully, you can mount the magnet and sensor in any orientation. As long as the magnet is close to the sensor, it will detect it. I doubt anyone can simply mount it to their existing door and house w/o added material; this is a DYI project. You can see how I mounted it in the pictures, and that the sensor does not need to be super close to the magnet. One reviewer mentioned swapping the sensor (normally open) for a normally closed sensor and mounting the sensor near the garage door opener motor. I seriously thought about doing that too for cleaner wiring. But upon reflection, and the way I understand how it would work (and I may very well be wrong), I realized that it would only tell me that the door is open when the door is fully open. For those that leave the door partially open (say, for a cat to come and go), you won't know the door is open. But for those that use their door ONLY fully open or fully closed, it would work. I ding 1 star for 2 reasons. The 'not-so-clear' instructions, and that they didn't use a sensor that can operate as Normally Open or Normally Closed. Most come with 3 wires so a person can pick how it should work. Search Amazon for Magnetic Switch. Longevity has been an issue for some. I'll withhold judgement there until I've used it for a year or so.

Add a little tech to your old garage door opener
Installation was a breeze, no surprises for me. Easy to set up and configure. Works with Alexa. Says it works with android auto. Add a little bit of tech to your old garage door opener.

With WiFi connection works great.
I have three of these installed, two on utility building overhead doors, and they work great. The app connects and opens/closes the doors from 100 feet away with good WiFi coverage in this building. I tried to connect the 3rd one to a property driveway gate, but our wifi won't reach it. The Bluetooth feature worked on the gate unit, but that required me to be close to connect.

Works with Alexa. App sends (optional) door notifications.
I bought one and after installing immediately bought a second. I had to make a bracket to hold the magnet portion of the contact, but that's expected for a DIY install. The app will send notifications to my phone/tablet if the door has been left open for a period of time (or for each open/close of the door). The "alarm" was my primary interest, during the fall, the leaves blowing around blocked the sensors more than once and prevented the door from closing (and we were already out of the driveway. Not a good feeling to come home after several hours of cold weather to an open door. Alexa is able to check the door state as well - 'what is Left Garage status'
