My 4 year old really enjoyed doing this with me and we had so much fun! We had a cup of water and she used a pipette to drop water on the area she was excavating which made it easier for her. We had a blast doing this and reading through the guide book. It came with a little pouch for all the stones to come in. The stones were on the small side think of gemstone confetti but we got this kid on a deal and it was definitely worth the money! My child enjoyed learning about the different types of gems and there was a great variety of stones in the kit. I would definitely purchase this again. We put the dig inside of a plastic tub/sensory table so it don’t get too messy for us!

Fun, gemstone, dig. My boys liked the gemstones that were in it. It was easy. They ended up using a hammer and not chiseling which I prefer chiseling because it takes some time to have fun with.

These rocks are great, but watch out for chipping! They have some beautiful colors, and if they become too hard, just add water, and they should soften up nicely. Overall, they’re a good deal for the price.

My 6yo and I found 80+ rocks! It’s definitely messy, so make sure you cover your work surface! I do wish it came with some better tools, because my fingers and hand definitely started to get pretty sore towards the end. Great for keeping kids busy for a little bit.

I bought the National Geographic Gemstone Dig Kit as a gift for my nieces, and they absolutely loved it! It kept them entertained while also teaching them about gemstones, which was a huge bonus. This is so fun I’m 27 and I had a blast it’s a great challenge not to hard but for kids it’s definitely a workout lol

My son “dug” at this toy intensely for hours. Hand/eye task while working for a tangible goal? Can’t ask for more in a toy. The gems are fun to discover and keep. Just watch out for blisters on kids’ hands from using the small plastic tool provided.

My 6 year old loves this and kept him Occupied for a while. My 3yo wasn’t able to dig much but nonetheless enjoyed collecting all the beautiful precious stones.
