Evenflo Walk-Thru Top of Stairs Baby Gate, Natural Wood

Great product very pleased. I'm not easy to impress and I don't hand out glowing reviews unless it's well earned in every aspect. With that said...I really like this product, have installed 2 of them and would only use this gate for young children. Easy installation even if your stairwell has moulding, trim, etc that could be a little tricky. Your product is flexible and if your a bit off level, or it's cock eyed it doesn't lose function and let's non handy people still get the job done. It's made of quality materials, sealed with quality lacquer, the wood isn't easily dented...But what I'm really pleased about is how secure it latches. No baby on earth is getting that open or getting through it. Not a chance. Its next level sturdy. I lock that gate on the top of the stairs and let my toddlers crawl around the whole upstairs with 110 confidence and piece of mind that cant figure out a way over or around it, nor can they muscle through it. The lat thing mechanism is the all the glory with this product. It swings & glides smoothly, functions smoothly, versatile, etc. Ita complete in every way. There are no flaws, loose end, short cuts taken with this gate. You have to anchor it to the wall, its incumbent upon you the consumer, to use quality anchors & a level...They make this installation about as easy as it gets if you're looking for a very sturdy, very secure, very toddler proof gate. My youngest toddler was another top step when she fell, back of the head first, when I grabbed her shirt at the last second before she was going down 20 stairs. These gates have made sure that was a 1 and done situation. Nothing is more valuable than her safety and this is the gate I stand behind. You will too

Love this gate, it swings open either way, and was very easy to install, also in brand new nice condition.. I was actually even able to install it in a rather tough place, in our hall way, before our bathroom, so our daughter can have the access to the bathroom while toileting.. It is about 6 inches taller than the first one we had purchased over 5 years ago, which is a plus because it isn't easy for little ones to try and climb over it and get injured.. Also the latch doesn't allow for little ones to easily open it however is easy enough for adults or older children.. The main reason purchasing the same one, is that the first one is still in great working condition after 5 years, we have used it to block off the top entry of the finished basement stairway, you don't need to worry about tripping over a mount or a bar, on the top of the stairway floor as with other gates, you just swing the gate open either way and you don't have to worry about tripping, slipping, or your foot getting caught, which is an important factor with safety,when you have a lot of traffic up and down the stairs.. Also easy to get the laundry up and down the stairs as well any thing you may need to bring up or down, even large items, since you can lift the gate up and remove it then replace it back in to the slots with ease.. I would highly recommend this gate!!!

Love this gate. We have a wide staircase and it is perfect. I love how easy it is the use and the way it opens we have access to our full stairway. It looks nice since it’s not bulky. The height is great even with having tall kids.

This is a nice gate to keep our pup out of craft room. I had a slide screen door I purchased earlier this year but had to use two hands to latch bottom and then top and it was a pain when holding floral or wreaths in hand. Then I got a recall notice on it and I thought about this wooden gate I had yrs ago and I always liked. I found it online and duh duh, bought it., it’s so easy to install and works well. No bar to step over and it opens in or out with one hand. Love it! Thank you Evenflo for making a nice and easy handling gate!

This gate has many features that make it very useful. I have installed many of them in my own homes and others homes. First, it can be manipulated with a single hand when installed properly. Second, it can be removed and reinstalled in an instant, a big advantage in a grandparent's home or any time you need to move a large piece of furniture by it, just don't want to look at it, etc... Third, when not covering the hallway/stairs/doorway it collapses and takes up less space on the wall. Before installation, and periodically during use, rub some paraffin on parts that slide. It is fairly sturdy. The slats allow a cat or very small dog to pass through, while discouraging climbing by a child. Good product that is reasonably priced.

We have 4 of these and are happy with all of them. Some of them are 6+ years old and they have really held up to use. It’s raw/unfinished wood which is ok for use indoors. That can make them difficult to clean. They are easy to install, with or without the paper guides. I’ve done it both ways and the fittings are easy to get lined up. The best part for us is that it still holds up against my 33” 4 year old. He can yank on it all he wants and won’t jerk the screws out of the wall. It’s also still a little too tall for him to climb.

I have purchased 3 baby gates over the past year, so I feel like I can tell you a little about this one. The first gate I purchased worked great, but it was a tension model, and I was now looking for one for "top of stairs". As you may have read these require you to drill into solid wood to make sure your toddler will not one day push too hard and fall down the stairs. Also, the top of stairs models open completely, instead of having a small gate to pass through in the middle, and this makes more sense for the top of stairs where you need more room. First of all, I will say that I like the Evenflo brand. I have their car seat (5 stars) and their high chair (4 stars), so I think they know about baby items. But this is a certain misfire for them. Pros * I like the natural wood color they use, and the *idea* of metal fittings, but see the CONS section too. * The instructional video is helpful. I thought this was a given, but other gates don't always have a video and the instruction manuals for all gates are terrible. Cons * It works very poorly in practice. The handle you are supposed to bend to lock and unlock is very rigid and uncomfortable. I can manage to unlock this on my first try 1 out of 3 times. My wife, one out of never. That makes the gate pretty useless. She often just leaves it looking like it is locked, but it isn't, because she couldn't get it to latch. That's not her fault, that's Evenflo's. * The wood is flimsy, and the metal fittings are poorly manufactured. I thought maybe this is what you get for the money, but the next gate I bought for almost the same amount was Summer Infant Deluxe Stairway Simple to Secure Wood Gate (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L2BMPRW/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0) and it is MUCH better. Go with that one.

Hands down, the best gate we have purchased so far. After 3 other baby gates failed us, this one is going strong for months now. It even keeps our older kids upstairs!! Great product, easy install.

We have bought multiple of these gates and have recommended them to family too. They are super simple yet strong, and look nicer than the plastic ones. I like how easily you can lift the gate off the brackets if needed.

Great quality staircase gate! It feels sturdy, secure, and easy to use. My baby loves exploring around safely now, and I feel much more relaxed letting her roam freely. Definitely a worthwhile purchase for parents with little ones.
