Not sure the sonic alarm keeps the cats away as I've positioned it in a different area where the cats would pass through to get to my veggie patch, but the water jet is really effective. Yes, its a cheaper version of a more expensive model and its not as tough or hardy but so far its not broken sprung a leak and died on me. The range is good with plenty of options to vary is field of sight. The instructions are a bit flakey and could do with explaining how to set up the jet range etc a bit more clearly but once you understand the principles of it function it become very straight forward to use. It been in place for over a week and I've not had 1 cat 'deposit' in that time whereas they were visiting daily. Very useful tool!!

Four stars for the jet spray repeller - very effective at keeping foxes, cats and wood pigeons away from the garden. Marked down one star because the pole cracked this winter even though it wasn't being used or connected to water - I feel like it should be suitable in all weather for the price. Also feel it wasn't as sturdy as it could be - the main sensor part protrudes and makes the whole unit unbalanced when using the extender pole, makes it wobbly and prone to leaking especially if you have strong water pressure. Lasted a year and a half before cracking. Two stars for the ultrasonic repeller. It's hit and miss depending on the animal, whereas the jet spray teaches them quickly to stay away.

Let’s start with the sonic repellent first. It does absolutely nothing. Foxes will walk past it and there’s no effect on them at all. So it’s a total waste. The sprayer works ok but is very prone to leaks. There’s a constant drip and recently water started leaking badly from one of the joints. Overall a waste of money.

Doesn’t help with cats. They still come on regular basis despite using this.

Works really well without hurting the cats, there are a lot of cats round us using our garden as their toilet and scratching the seeds up but this has stopped them

Jet spray repeller - I would not describe this as robust - the stem and spike appear quite flimsy and I fear that either or both will snap when pushing into the lawn to set up. The instructions are very poor - green arc-adjusting clips are actually red, and there are no instructions on changing the range (actually a dial on the top). The joint between the extension pipe and the spike/water inlet leaked profusely and had to be fixed with plumbers PTFE tape - this should not have been necessary. This is probably because the bottom thread on the tube does not rest on a water-tight seal. The instructions suggest that the extension tube is optional - but it is not possible to connect the spike/water inlet directly to the PIR pump. The spike needs to be pushed right in as the unit shakes violently when activated if not firmly installed. On maximum range a jet of water shoots across the garden and there is a danger of decapitating flowers. Whether it decapitates cats remains to be seen.

The water jet work brilliantly - makes the wife jump everytime she forgets about it (and keeps the pesky cats away). I didn't really want the Sonic device but it came as a package. It doesn't seem to work well (or at all). Maybe part of is you cant hear it working, and judging by the "messages" the cats leave, neither can they!

This helped as we have not had cat poo in our garden and it seams to bypass out garden to do its buisness in others.
