Better than the cover.
'Can't tell a book by it's cover', never a truer word here; this book is better than the cover.Lexi Sundell even includes concise chapters on materials and techniques. There is no padding, no waffling just one illustration after another on how to paint individual flowers, she's a good artist too. I want to paint wild flowers and I just needed a visual demonstration on flower painting. It may be of interest students but right now in England, I doubt if there is a tutor in an art school or uni, who would be willing to show you how to paint flowers and encourage you to paint them... unless you are studying this specific subject. This book will not spoon feed you but it will help to demonstrate the art and mystics of flower painting.

Fabulous book
Really good book. The illustrations of the flowers and the instructions are really good. Can't wait to paint my first flower masterpiece!

Wonderful!
I bought this book based solely on the cover picture, and I was not disappointed. The images are stunning. I have never painted with acrylics, although I dabble in watercolours, but this book has me making a list of equipment needed to try this medium. There are clear instructions for completing the beautiful pictures, (which could possibly be used with other methods - pencils, watercolours, pastels etc.) and the author's enthusiasm for the medium is obvious. A gorgeous book for any flower painter.

An excellent book
A good guide to painting flowers in acrylic paints, with addtional information about basic painting to suit someone early in their career as an acrlic painter. The demonstrations are beautifully painted, and a guide is given to all the cours used.

Not a good book for UK customers or people on a budget
The book is beautiful, but you are expected to spend an absolute fortune on paint - 35 colours - which seems to cost online between £5 and £10 a tube. In addition to this, some of the colours are not easily available in the UK, and there seems to be a discrepancy between the UK and US terms for different hues - Cerulean blue looks nothing like Cerulean blue as I know it - so this is immensely confusing.

My interpretation
There is a lot of useful information and advice in this book. Really glad I bought it and the colour pictures of the flowers are lovely. When I have not had the colour of paint suggested, I have substituted the colour with what I have and it still works well.

The Acrylic Flower Painter's A - Z
As a professional artist who has been retired for some years now, I wanted to buy a guide to flower painting which was both practical and written by an artist with a proven record and artistic ability. Her paintings are impressive and inspire one to look at presenting each flower in a novel and interesting way. I have seen artists who can handle leaves in a more accomplished and polished way. ( i.e. Pieter Wagemans thecontemporary Belgian artist, who paints in the Dutch tradition ).However on balance I chose this book in preference to the proliferations of other good books on the subject, because it had a lot to offer in using acrylics as opposed to watercolours and oils. Great Book!
This is a really, really helpful book. If you can't do a good job painting flowers after following the advice in here I should give up.The author could not do more to teach technique. Too many books don't give enough information. This book is packed with it!
