Excellent Kayak Carrier with hydraulic lift assist
Arrives in a box which is very heavy to handle so be prepared. I had no issues assembling the unit, all went well. Make sure you build the frame on a flat surface. I have Thule Roof Bars and so I had to use the U Brackets to secure the frame but worked fine. When you assemble the part that pulls drop, there are two metal bars which secure the left hand side and the right hand side and although these bars are identical, make sure you put the one with the warning sticker on at the bottom as if you put it at the top, the rubber sleeve that goes on the top bar, covers up the warning sticker - see pictures. The frame fixes onto the roof bars first and then you lift the main part into position, I managed this on my own but due to the weight, it is easier if there are two of you. I haven’t put a kayak on it yet but all appears to function well so far.

Strong, effective and easy to use
Superb. If you are looking for a cost effective kayak assisted loading device you can’t really go wrong with this. Forget the notion that Chinese products are inferior! This flat pack was very well packed in good strong cardboard and the assembly instructions were clear and detailed. Operation is simple and it can lift my 21kg sea kayak without assistance from me! It is fairly straightforward to release and remove the moving part but I don’t bother!

I haven’t seen a product anywhere to match this. It’s a gamechanger
It does work I have a 32kg sea fishing kayak which it lifts quite easily with a bit of arm power too. I had to take a loan out on this lift because at £400 it ain’t cheap. I take the top section off if I’m not using the kayak because 3 reasons 1) wind noise 2) security3) preservation. I’ve got some silicon spray to coat the moving parts. My roof rack cross bars said they would hold 100kg, this is the bit that holds lift frame but when I fitted everything with the kayak one of roof bars was bending. So spec from roof bar company wasn’t accurate so had to fit 1 metre x 30mm x10 mm Ali bar to roof bar. Using T bolts in roof bar slot. The frame assembly was relatively simple but if manufacturers could have done this for customer and put it into a larger box would’ve been helpful.

Brilliant- a lift assist roof rack that works!
Truly EXCELLENT !!! Highly recommended. If you have a problem lifting - in my case a shoulder injury prevented me from lifting our Ebikes onto a roof carrier - we were unable to take on vacation...until we found the Tooenjoy lift assist roof rack. Now, along with Thule ProRide 598 bike carriers, we can once mor take our bikes away again. Excellent service from Toonenjoy and excellent quality. For anyone considering check out YouTube for examples of how easy it is to install and lift heavy items.

Impressed
Very well packaged product with good instructions and easy assembly. Very well manufactured. Used twice now and what a different it has made to loading my heavy kayak. I’d tried various other methods and equipment but this is really very good. Yes you can only load one kayak but if I was going to load more I would have purchased two of these or a trailer. In all very good price for a quality product.

For the coat, compared to expensive brands, it ticks the box
Great aid to continuing kayaking into my dotage. I have it on a Peugeot Partner Tepee and still a little lifting required, so think it would be fabulous on an estate car.

Easy to fit on roof rack.
Makes transporting our 2 seat sit on kyak alot easier. The kyak is very secure and easy to lift on to the roof after a long day paddling.

It’s build by heavy material!!
It helped me to load the Kayak on top of my tall Land Cruiser, but I hoped it was much lighter, It’s not as easy as advertised, it’s heavy and not easy to remove from rack !!! Also the locking mechanism is not very easy to use ! It helps but not very easy to use !

Way better than the name brand options!
**SHORT REVIEW** 2 of these Racks will fit on 53" Thule Wingbar Evos. We used them to carry 2 XL Malibu ocean Kayaks on top of a 2021 Kia Sorento. Super solid build quality. Easy assembly and loading. Price is unbeatable. **It did require us to get longer bolts to fit the wingbar evos with the rubber wind gaskets installed. We used m6x10 rather than the m6x8 that are included. **Extended Review** This is our first camping trip since Covid hit and we decided we wanted to get our own Kayak racks rather than borrowing my grandparents Suburban and Rack. We were wanting something that made it easier to put up and down and almost went with the Hullivators from Thule but felt that they weren’t a very sturdy looking design. My Dad happened to find these racks and we both fell in love with them. We were originally going to mount them on my parents 2018 Yukon but discovered that it won’t work on their car because the way their crossbars mount they are at fixed points rather than adjustable placement. **THIS RACK REQUIRES ADJUSTABLE CROSSBAR PLACEMENT** Seeing as my 2021 Sorento has adjustable crossbars I volunteered. We have two Kayaks however and weren’t sure how wide of a bar I was going to need to make two of these mounts fit. We saw that they overhang the ends of the crossbars quite a bit and decided to gamble on a 53” bar. They fit perfectly up there with a few inches of play on all sides. The build quality of this thing is superb. We are machinists by trade and know when corners have been cut. This thing looks and feels amazing. The bolts all of some pre-applied lock tight to keep everything from rattling loose. Though the included hex wrench is pretty cheap quality. Now to get the base to mount onto our Thule Wingbar Evos with the T-slot we did have to grab slightly longer bolts to make this work. The rubber wind strip on the crossbars made it just slightly too tall to slide it on. All our local Home Depots were out of stock of the bolts we were wanting but thankfully we have a machine shop and raided the bolt department. M6x10 Bolts are the perfect fit. Those couple extra threads made all the difference and we were able to slide the base on with ease. The top section of the rack then slides into the base and locks in. You may need to loosen your crossbars to get the spacing right as when we first threw the rack up there one of them slid with ease while the other was catching. We loosened the crossbars and wiggled the placement around until both were sliding easily. THIS THING DOES TAKE A TON OF EFFORT TO GET DOWN WHEN THERE IS NO KAYAK MOUNTED. You’re fighting the shocks that help make the kayak go up easily, so without that extra weight it can be a bit difficult. When needing to raise it back up without anything mounted on it I found it helps to drape myself over the end of it while I push down and release the locks. It seems the release point it lower and if there isn’t any weight on it you can’t move the release locks. There aren’t any locks to prevent theft but they would need to know how to remove the top sliding portion in order to get to the lower mounting bolts. I don’t think it’ll really be an issue. Though we have removed the top sliding section for the past week leading up to our camping trip and left the bases mounted up there. My parents went up to grab the kayaks from our family cabin and gave the racks their maiden voyage back home. First time mounting them took them and hour and a half but that included getting the kayaks down from the rafters and fighting a stuck ratchet strap. We think once we load them up for our trip this weekend we can have them fully secured in 15 or so minutes now that we now what we are doing. Easy strap placement as you can walk between the kayak and the car the place the strap on the back side. On the way home they opened our sunroof to see if anything shifted. My dad took it all the way up to 75mph and said they didn’t move at all. There was a slight whistle at 45 mph but it quickly went away once you went any faster. Overall we LOVE these things. Be prepared to get stopped and tell people all about them because they definitely draw some attention. Build quality is phenomenal, assembly is a breeze, and mounting is the same as any other rack. For the convenience it bring and at half the price of the name brands it’s a no brainer purchase!
