Q: what gang box does it use?

You CANNOT put this item in a normal 2-gang wall box, it is unsafe and against electrical code to mix a 120VAC connection and low voltage (HDMI, cat5/6, coax) cables in the same electrical box. Note that the receptacle, like most, has exposed screws on the side, so it must be in an enclosed electrical box. You can get a box which is 2-gang, enclosed on one side for the power, and open on back for the low voltage cables. Arlington is one brand; others can be found at your home store. You can also get a normal 2-gang box which has a provision for a hard divider to be installed which will meet the requirements for having separate sides for 120VAC and low voltage. Or, you can get a single gang box, and an "add on" frame for low voltage. If you have an existing single gang box, just cut away the drywall next to the single gang box and add the low voltage frame. I would recomment AGAINST using this product. Although it claims to be UL "approved" (this is not a correct term for a UL certification), searches for "baseport" or "tradebase" in the UL database do return any listed products. The listing doesn't include either the UL e-number, and the product photos do not show a UL logo nor the required e-number on the product, and the product name may be obfuscated from its real name which makes database searches difficult. Finally the seller or manufacturer do not seem to understand electrical codes by suggesting this should be used in a normal 2-gang box.

Q: does it support hdmi 2.1 (8K)?

Our HDMI ports are version 2.0 and best supports 4K resolution. While an HDMI 2.1 version has backward compatibility and can indeed work with HDMI 2.0 version ports, the output quality would not be as good as using the equivalent HDMI version for the expected maximum resolution.

Q: the description says CAT5 is it 5 or 6?

It says 6, the connection even if it's a coupler still matters
