Great gift
I ordered this for my boyfriend, who is into bushcraft. This is a great size for outings or camping. Perfect for throwing in your car for trips in case of an emergency. It's sturdy and a pretty solid weight. The head is on tight. Easily sharpens. Holster and sheath are nice as well.

Nice axe
I just got this and I am impressed by the sharpness. It can cut wood easily. The handle is just great and the head is not loose at all. The wood I cut was split easily. The axe seems to be made well and the set-up is just perfect. Nice weight. Not too heavy. Great for this summer cutting woods.

Nice looking bearded head…
I liked the look of the head, but was skeptical based on some of the reviews.1 big reasons for the 1 star:Upon opening the box I noticed some clear stringy material stuck to the head. Pulled it off, no big deal. Looked like some kind of adhesive. Didn’t think much of it. FIRST swing to chop some kindling, I felt the head fidget/loose from the handle.Been chopping wood for years. Loose on the first swing with adhesive on it out of the box.Seems like it was loose at the factory or something and they did a quick (yet terrible) fix and packaged it up to pass on the poor product to the customer.I hope I get a refund.I wouldn’t even want a replacement from a company that sends out poor quality products.I’ll update if they refund.Oh, and the blade out of the box couldn’t cut a cake it was so dull.***i don’t mind sharpening a blade, but thought I’d note. This is not the reason for the 1 star.***UPDATE!..They emailed me and offered a full refund, which I gladly accepted.I very much appreciate it when they try to remedy the situation.1 to 4 stars.

Build quality needs work and a better wedge not for hard to moderate work
Looks cool but don’t get it.Not ideal for splitting, cutting, or processing wood.Needs to be sharpened right out of the box.(fair)Feels weird in the hand. XL sized handsTo be completely honest, I thought it was going to function like another cheap hatchet.-NOPEDidnt make it past one block of wood before the blade started to come off.Wedge functionality needs work (Having extra circular wedges should have been a red flag)Wood not recommend

Low-quality appearance, but seems to be a fair hatchet
This and many similar hatchets have wildly mixed reviews with quality being all over the place, and it seems just a crapshoot whether one gets a good one or not.The first thing I noticed opening this hatchet is the amount of adhesive packed into the eye around the handle. So much, in fact, it had dripped and coated about half of the axehead. The top of the handle protruding from the eye was cracked a split a little, but the circular wedge was at least centered. Bad hanging aside, the handle appeared to be well-grained and straight. The handle appeared to be stained, but at least it was wasnt coated in varnish, which promptly get sanded off my tools anyway as a blister-causer.The axe head itself, some scratches and glue aside, seemed to be made well, and the edge was set up in sort of a chisel style, with one side being fairly flat to the head, and the other side beveled more. Whether this was done intentionally or just as a result of poor shaping, I don't know.It did come pretty dull, but that's not uncommon or worth taking stars off. The included puck-style sharpening stone helped me give it a workable edge in about 5-10 minutes. For a test, I chopped a dried log in half, roughly 6" diameter. It cut really good, and has a nice weight for such a small hatchet. The handle was still firmly attached with no looseness after the log was in 2.Chocking up on the handle, the beard of the axe does protect one's hand while shaving or whittling. The leather blade keeper and belt loop seem pretty serviceable, but I have a feeling those big brass rivets won't last very long.Overall, I find it to be a nice little axe, but for the price, I would have appreciated a little better quality control on the hanging and the edge geometry.

hubby loved it
Got this after our last camping trip because the one we had was pathetic and we needed one that would actually be useful. This axe is fantastic quality and very well made and sturdy. Hubby played around with it and says he is impressed at how comfortable and easy it is to use. It's not too biz, but it gets the job done very well. The sheath is very good quality as well and the sharpening stone is a lovely addition. Everything comes very nicely packaged and is very presentable. Overall, we are very pleased with this purchase and would definitely recommend this axe.
