Good concept, needs some ergonomic refinement, and no way of verifying water purity
I like this idea. I got this device for our emergency preparedness kit, since we live in earthquake land. The whole idea is that it hangs from anything you can wrap the strap around, and drains through a .01 micron filter into a catch bladder. The instructions tell you how to connect everything, but I would make one change, and that is to install the hose clip (which allows you to pinch the hose to shut off the flow of water) over the OUTFLOW hose, not the INFLOW. That way, you can pinch it closed when the lower bag is full, then remove the hose from the filter to transfer the water. Otherwise, you have no way of keeping the water from draining back out of the catch bag (there is no check valve).Otherwise, the two bladders are basic hydration bladders - there's no reason you couldn't replace the lower one with any other receptacle you want (pot, bottle, etc).OK, on with the reason for the three-star review:Trust and confidence.Buying a water purification device that's actually usable requires a fair amount of research and documentation. Specifically, if you're claiming a 0.01 micron filter, you need to specify Absolute (no pore greater than 0.01 micron) or Nominal (up to 30% of pores greater than 0.01 micron). This filter is not advertised as either, nor is there any sort of certification pr test report that the filter cartridge (not just the medium) meets Absolute 0.01 Micron standards. Without that, it's impossible to know how effective this filter is.If it IS indeed an Absolute 0.01 Micron filter, it would be able to filter out Giardia and other cysts which are larger than the pore size, but would not be able to get rid of small viruses like rotavirus (in the .004 micron range). If you're planning on being in an environment where viruses may be present in the water, plan on a chemical water purifier tablet after the filtration process.I'd happily give this 4-5 stars if they had some way of proving the quality of the filter. The concept is great, and I'd love the peace of mind of a good standby water filter in my kit. Otherwise, I'm just not that sure.

Excellent for emergency kit
We are not 'crazy' preppers, but every home needs an emergency kit, where you can survive for like 5 days in the event of a natural disaster. We live in Seattle - so for us it would be an earthquake or wind storm. This is an expensive way to make sure you have enough water for multiple people, or even just 1 person. Instead of a straw, you can filter and save - possibly re-filter the filtered until you feel safe (unlike the straw).> so to be honest, I set this up to test functionality, but I dont have a water test kit, so I didnt test microbe levels or anything in the filtered water.>Easy breezy setup. Instructions are in the box and are super simple. All components fit together very well. No leaks, secure fittings. Not cheap plastic, so it will last years and work for a while after setup.> Not for salt water or any liquids other than fresh water.> After setup, water trickles through filter into the clean bag as expected. Like I said, I didnt test the actual water that comes out clean. Personally, if it was an earthquake situation and I was using this for survival and thought I was dealing with contaminated water, I might double filter, but it would be quick and easy with this anyway.> You could use it, then store it - it's meant to last a long time and have repeat usage if it's stored properly.OVERALL - easy, fast way to get clean water in your survival kit.

Perfect for my earthquake kit
I live in Southern California where earthquake preparedness is not really optional. I originally had just a single straw-like water filter, but I realized that if water is out of service for a while trying to clean my water one gulp at a time isn't very efficient. This system has two soft bottles that roll up, one for dirty water and one for the clean water to trickle into. The filter goes in between the two connected by tubes. The whole kit came in a box about half the size of a kid's shoebox. The kit comes with a velvet(?!)storage bag, but the bag is about an inch too short so when its filled you can close it completely so the smaller parts can slip out. Not a big thing, I'm sure I have a nylon bag that I can use for it and then it's going immediately into my home earthquake kit. Another item checked of the list. Yay.

Instructions lack detailed information on sanitizing and preparing the filter for extended storage
I have used many different camping and backpacking style water filters from many major brands but when the COVID hit, it was impossible to find the brands I have used before and I needed a filter that could provide enough water for more than a couple of people for a week or more. This filter seemed to fit the bill; It uses a gravity to filter between the two included 3L bags and the setup was quite simple. While this set is exactly what I was looking for, I was a little disappointed that I could not find a replacement filter on amazon. All of the other parts are completely reusable, but it would be a shame to have to buy the entire system again just for the filter after an incident. The other issue I found a little odd is that the instructions were very sparse. Aside from backwashing the filter after use, it doesn't say anything about how to treat it against bacteria, mold or other critters in between use. After a brief test, I used a procedure that I have used before and one that is easy to find online just to make sure the filter doesn't get contaminated in between uses. If it werent' for these two issues, I would have given this 5 stars.

Clean drinking water is life.
Most of us are used to the idea that we just turn the tap and clean, safe water comes pouring out. Many places in the world do not have that luxury, and it could be interrupted where you live quite easily. This system is designed to use gravity to filter 3 liters of water at a time. (A liter and a quart are almost the same.) You fill the upper bag and the water flows through a tube and filter into the lower bag. We are pretty careful people, so we would probably still drink the resulting clean water through one of our life straws, but that would make our life straws last much longer if we filtered through this system first. It comes with everything needed to hang up the bags. In these uncertain times everyone needs this sort of product.
