This hardwire kit does exactly what it’s supposed to do and makes installing a VIOFO dash cam much cleaner and more professional. The biggest advantage is that it provides constant power without needing to use the cigarette lighter port. Once installed, the dash cam turns on and off automatically with the car, and parking mode works exactly as intended. The Type-C connection feels solid and modern, and compatibility with multiple VIOFO models is a big plus. I really appreciate that it comes with a full set of fuse taps. That saves time and extra purchases, especially if you’re not sure which fuse type your vehicle uses. The wiring quality feels good, and the voltage protection gives peace of mind that it won’t drain the car battery. Installation itself is straightforward if you’re comfortable accessing the fuse box. For someone with zero experience, it may take a bit of time or require watching a guide, but that’s expected with any hardwire kit and not a flaw of the product. Update: Manufacturer sent a replacement that was installed and works great. As it says on the box, test it before running it behind the trim. Original: I have installed 5 of these now and they are great if they work. It signals the Viofo Camera to go into parking mode immediately after turning off the car or a little after to avoid capturing the door closing. However, 1 out of 5 is defective. After all the trouble in running the cable behind the air bags, the battery on this cable doesn't work. It shutsdown immediately and the light on the switch turns off. Tested and there is electricity going to the battery tap connector but defective cable just won't stay on. When it is working, the switch is good providing a custom level of how much to drain the car battery ensuring that the car can start. Although it taxes the car battery, it's cheaper to replace the car battery than a dedicated battery for the camera unless you have an EV.

**This is an update to my review. Viofo sent me a message after this review posted and offered to send me a replacement wire harness. I agreed and had the harness in hand within 2 days. I removed the defective harness and installed the new one and everything worked perfectly. I still use Viofo exclusively because I think their cameras are quite good. This is the first time I had to use Viofo support for a defective item; and Viofo came through. Viofo really does make great cameras that are very reliable and at a good price point. It was nice to see that Viofo does back up their products when you need it.** I bought this as part of a package deal with a camera for a Christmas gift last year. I finally got around to installing the camera this weekend. I had an awful time getting ACC power to work; but after an hour or so messing around; it miraculously started working. I was never able to get battery (parking mode power) to work. So, after spending hours getting this to work; it stopped working after I buttoned everything up. This isn't my first time wiring a car with a Viofo Camera and hardwire kit. I have done three of my own cars and two of my children's cars. This is clearly a defective hardwire kit. I was surprised to get defective hardware from Viofo; but it happened. I'm sort of disgusted because now I have to buy another and wait. Viofo needs to improve their quality control with their supplier.

Before purchasing the Viofo A229 Pro, I compared many dashcams online and considered some opinions on YouTube, and I chose something that supports 3 channels with a parking mode, offers the best image quality available at present, and comes from a reputable brand with a solid track record, which is a little expensive side so it gives me confidence. I had also thought of one that could withstand high heat since summer temperatures can soar in California. Considering the parking mode and the need to handle high temperatures, I chose to buy the bundle deal that included the Hardwire Kit and Viofo's original 512 GB SD card. I thought it was a pretty good deal. Installing the A229 Pro itself was very straightforward. I just followed the instructions and had no problems. However, installing the Hardwire Kit was a bit more challenging. It required some knowledge and specific tools, like a circuit tester and a wire crimper. But in the end, I managed to get it all set up by myself. One thing I misunderstood was expecting real-time remote live view capability during parking mode. I later noticed that only three brands offer this feature, and Viofo is not one of them. After setting up the A229, I learned about this limitation. In the future, I hope Viofo develops a product with remote live-watching capability while maintaining the same quality. Overall, I highly recommend Viofo, especially because of its excellent customer support system, as noted in other people's reviews as well. They have a dedicated portal that makes it easy to ask questions or place orders, and they respond quickly to emails. I have used up the included stickers by testing them in many places in my car, so I had to replace it with another strong sticker I had at home, but it melted and came off in the heat. But the original stickers that came with A229 don't melt in the heat. So I contacted customer service, and they provided me multiple replacement stickers, including static stickers, for free, only charging me $5 for shipping. Thank you so much!!!

I would recommend changing some settings in the VioFo app as well to get the best performance. The kit’s build quality feels durable, and Viofo provides excellent customer support if any issues arise. I bought this as an addition to a new car so i can have peace of mind when my car is parked.

Tired of hanging wires? Don’t want to use up your 12V outlet? This hardwire kit came with absolutely everything I needed, down to the add-a-fuses. The kit was super cheap, and super worth it given how much these dash cams cost. It also enables parking mode which Is awesome (if you want it). It was super easy and straight forward to use. As someone with 0 experience hard wiring, I was able to complete this installation in like 30 minutes using the instruction manual and ChatGPT. Anyone can do this. The cable length was great, I actually had some extra cable left over that I had to tuck away into the head liner. I’m super happy with this purchase. If you follow the installation instructions, it’ll come out super clean with no visible wires

Super easy to install. Granted I dug up a YouTube video for my specific vehicle but the process was simple. After installing the fuse taps (make sure they are the correct orientation), the camera fired right up. The harness allows it to record even when the car is off which was something I really wanted available. After reaching a certain battery discharge level, the camera shuts off rather than continue to drain. Running the wiring was the most difficult part. I'd recommend picking up a trim removal kit. They're cheap but will save your fingers and potential damage when prying off plastic tabs. Various fuse taps are included so there should be no issues with different vehicle makes and models.

Product quality is good and does the job.

Easy to set up once you know where the fuses are and the ground bolt. Maybe took an hour to set the whole system up. Came with fuse tapeworm every size. Great product.

Its better to have too much wire, and have to cut some off or hide it away, then not enough.
