All of value is defenceless. A masterpiece. Buy this record!
Paul Marshall's - aka Lone Wolf - best sofar. Less is more. Did Paul use large dramatic words, sounds and compositions on 'the devil and I', this time he hits the bullseye with accurate notes, syllables and delicate compositions. A Masterpiece. 'Patience my tinsel angel', Derek William Dick once wrote. This and an ear for quality is what you need. Just sit in a quiet environment and enjoy. The album Lodge is getting better everytime you listen. 'Alles van waarde is weerloos', Lucebert - dutch writer and painter - wrote; 'all of value is defenceless' was seldom more applicable. Buy this record and support the artist. Now!

Lone Wolf's best (and that's saying something)
It's nice to keep treasures to yourself but this deserves to be heard by many. A beautiful, cathartic song collection from the exceptionally talented Mr Marshall. If you think you like proper music, get this. If there is any justice, this is destined to be a classic.

Inside Looking Out - Outside Looking In
My my my! This is turning out to be an particularly good week for fine new releases!Paul Marshall already has two splendid albums in the bag ('The Devil and I' - 2010and 'The Lovers' - 2012) but his new collection, 'Lodge' is the very best of the lot. These eleven compositions, stripped down to the bare bones - piano, percussion,a bit of bass and trumpet here and there, seem to be carved out of blocks of granite. So sure, so solid, so confident in their compressed nature that they achieve an almostsculptural presence. Each connecting to the other but each magnificently different. Then there's Mr Marshall's voice. An instrument of remarkable power and clarity.Whether singing in a whisper or a roar he is never less than absolutely sure of himself. It takes a singular kind of talent to build something as resplendently coherent as this. The surreal lyrical struggles of 'Aligator', wherein our host shows off his fine falsetto;the wonderfully poignant melodies of 'Mistakes' and 'Token Water; the hesitant andelusive rhythmic and harmonic structure of 'Taking Steps' and the raw, primordial beautyof final track 'Pripyat' (by far the most affecting invention in Mr Marshall's canon so-far).It would be absolutely impossible to add or subtract anything to make this a better album.Inside looking out; outside looking in. 'Lodge' is clearly a labour of love and love it I do.Unreservedly.Essential.

Gorgeous and passionate music
His third album is perhaps his best work to date. A truly emotional experience, with so much passion and feeling to the songs. Give Up is one my favourite songs this year, the passion as the song builds up is great. This album nearly didn't happen, we are very lucky he didn't give up (see what I did there) and created this fantastic album. If you like one song you will love all of it.

This is a seriously wonderful record. Doesn't sound or feel like anything else right now. Echoes of latter day Talk Talk with extremely personal lyrics. Listen with half an ear though and you'll miss it's beauty.
