I am very happy to have this donabe! I've had the chance to season it (by boiling rice-rinse water in it) and use it now for nabeyaki udon, a favorite Japanese meal. It is really high quality! The glaze does not have unnecessary crackles in it that run the risk of chipping off like some other donabe I've seen. The color and maple leaf motif is very handsome. It was a pleasure to cook with, and this donabe is authentic banko-yaki, actually made in Japan, unlike so many others on the market. I'm happy for that, as I know I can count on Japanese craftsmen to uphold reliable safety standards when it comes to cookware.Comes with instructions for how to use it in English and Japanese, which are very important since this style of earthenware pot requires very specific care, like not washing it with soap (it will get into the pores of the clay and into your food next time), heating it slowly, not heating it when the bottom is wet, etc.I ordered the smaller size 6, which is perfect for a meal for one person, but could easily serve two with some dishes, particularly ones that don't have noodles taking up space and you serve your carbs (rice) on the side. I'm very happy with this donabe!
