Long Handled Irish Shovel
I have never been a great gardener. Now that I am not as young as I used to be, I find digging with a conventional spade very hard on my back. When you do something and it hurts, you tend to stop doing it. That was why my garden did not appeal to the Royal Horticultural Society. My wife, not unreasonably, thought that the garden should not look like a builders yard so, something had to be done. When I was a kid, I saw my uncle and his farm labourers digging with long handled shovels, often for hours on end and without being crippled with back pain the next day. I thought, 'It's got to be worth a try.' And so it was. I stand upright, throw the heavy shovel into the ground with my right hand, guiding it with my left hand sliding up the handle, help it in a bit deeper with my boot and pull back on the long handle without bending over.I love it. Can't think why I didn't buy one years ago. It would have saved a lot of earache as well as back ache.

A fine long handle, good for getting building products out of large bags.
Only fault I can say if it is a fault, but I find the handle a bit thick for a smaller hand, otherwise it works fantastically fine a fantastic product.
