TFA 30.1053 Maxima-Minima Digital Thermometer

Inexpensive max-min thermometer - OK but suitable for casual domestic use only
This is a simple and very easy to use max-min thermometer, running on a couple of AAA cellsI had the opportunity to compare readings with that of a lab grade thermometer and it tended to under read by 1 C to 2 C. For example, it read 3.0 C when the true temperature was 4.7 C; it read 14.0 C when the true temperature was 15.0 C. This may seem a large error, but my guess is this is fairly typical of inexpensive thermometers like this. Probably not an issue for casual domestic use.The construction is reasonably sturdy and the displays are easy to read. It looks reasonably weather resistant but I imagine its not completely waterproof (eg no rubber seals around the battery compartment) so some care in positioning would probably be needed when used outdoor.CONCLUSION: Not bad for £10 or so. Easy to use, reset & read - but be aware that the absolute accuracy isn't much better than a degree C or so.

Great for the price but use wth care outside
Bought this to record max and min temperatures in my garden, to replace another thermometer which had failed. Nice clear display and so far (6 months use) 100 per cent reliable. Two caveats - first, it is described as suitable for outside use, but has no seal on the battery compartment etc, so is not waterproof. If you are going to use it outside then you will need to make a little open fronted 'house' or similar to protect it from direct rain. Second, the display only updates every 10 secs or so, so when resetting you need to hold the reset button in til it resets - it doesn't mention this in the instructions and until you twig this it looks like it doesn't wrk properly.....

Clear and simple Min Max thermometer, ideal for greenhouses, storage sheds and the home or garden!
Reasonable price, clear and simple to use. Takes two AAA batteries in a push on cover so no small screws to fiddle with. Good size clear display showing maximum, current and minimum temperature since last reset. Straightforward reset with raised buttons on the front so no taking it down to press a small indent on the back. Fits on a wall hooked on with a small screw (not included). Made of solid plastic by which I mean not the sort that crack at the slightest knock, time will tell how it manages a few seasons of summers and winters but really can't fault this product.Update: both of these still going strong, still on original batteries and no issues with the weather. Both are hung on wooden posts one on decking another on fence post and no problems with getting wet in the rain, a cold winter will test the plastic but still solid and not brittle from UV

Not for precise measurement, but generally does the job.
I put this next to another battery-powered thermometer of different make, and they record different figures. Just as the man with two watches never knows the right time, I have no idea which one is more accurate, not least as the difference is not consistent across the range of temperatures. However since I am mainly interested in the risk of frost, it's good enough to know within a couple of degrees how reported/forecast weather translates to the microclimate of my garden, and for that, it's fine.

I use this outside in my garden to check temperatures for my plants and out of general interest. Very accurate and easy to use.

Does the job while not too expensive
I just purchased a second one of this product. I use them to keep track of the temperature in the main rooms in my house to regulate the heat. When checking the other thermometers on Amazon I got the impression from the various reviews that these things can sometimes not last very long. On that basis I decided to go for a less expensive one.I have this one on the wall in my living room and it does a very good job. Would recommend.

Bought this for my workshop so that I would know why my fingers were so cold and could turn the heater on !It has a really clear display and the max and minimum temperatures are useful. sometimes I store paint in the workshop and I like to make sure that the temperature does not fall below freezing.in summary, a well made piece of kit that I have had no problems with at a reasonable price
