100% Satisfied
My wife and I looked at around 70 DVD cabinets and were very disappointed in the quality we were seeing. When I first looked at this one I was unsure but read some amazing reviews. After receiving our cabinet and beginning to assemble it, we were just in awe over the quality and just how sturdy this was.The time to assemble was about 40 minutes (with power tools). The instructions left little to the imagination and walked us through perfectly. The boards were a perfect fit and the doors slide like on ice. I did wall mount it for stability. The back panels are slide groved, so no annoying tack or nails. My wife loved it so much that she is already planning to purchase at least 2 more.Fantastic and props for the craftsmanship.I will recommend this to anyone tired of disappointment.

Great Quality!!
I bought two of these units to hold paperback books (and smaller hardback books). This cabinet looks fantastic when assembled.1) This does NOT look like the typical fake wood. It has a hardwood covering so it looks like it is completely made of actual hardwood. It is very sturdy. This looks more like something you would get at a nicer furniture store or perhaps from Pottery Barn.2) It is very simple to put together. I had this out of the box, put together, and everything cleaned up within an hour and a half, working by myself. It comes with all of the pieces and a small screwdriver to be used when putting in the glass panels- you need a normal screwdriver to do the rest. The instructions are very basic pictures, no real text, but it is so easy to figure out it is not a problem.3) The packaging from this seller is amazing. It arrived looking quite beaten up, but it is double boxed and very well packaged. No damage to one of the units in any way (more on this later).4) This is sold as a cabinet for dvds and cds. However, after doing some measuring, I purchased it to hold paperback books and smaller hardback books. It is the perfect size. Normal bookshelves are much too deep for these smaller books and you end up with a lot of wasted space on the shelf. I wanted a more shallow unit for the hallway upstairs and this is perfect.5) The front doors do make the unit slightly heavier toward the front, but if you put larger/heavier items or the leftover shelves in the bottom of the unit there is no danger of it tipping over during normal use. I had 8 shelves left over for each unit, so I stacked 4 shelves in the bottom of each side. It raises my books up higher so I can see them easier and helps with the stability of the unit. You might have a concern if you have small children in your home, in which case you should anchor the unit to the wall.Now- even though the packaging is great, one of the units did arrive damaged. A side panel had a split in it and the glass for one of the doors was completely shattered. Since the packaging is so good I think it more likely that this happened during packing and not during shipping, but who knows. I have contacted the seller about this and will update as to the customer service for replacement of these pieces. All in all, I highly recommend this product. It is the best quality furniture item I have ordered online and well worth the price paid.***UPDATE: Today I received the replacement parts for my second cabinet, this time nothing was damaged at all AND they sent two extra panes of glass so now I have extra in the event one gets broken. All free of charge. I got a reply from the seller less than an hour after contacting them, and shipment confirmation the next day. UPS took their time delivering it, but that is not the seller's fault. Highly recommend this seller (AVthing in its Place) AND the product.

Great looking unit, well packed and not too difficult to assemble
I purchased this unit after buying and assembling the 3-door unit made by this same manufacturer. The unit came extremely well packed and had no significant issues during assembly. Once assembled, it looks great. I didn't want to take a full star off, but I try to limit 5 star reviews to things that I just can't think of ways to improve. This unit has a few minor things that kept it from a pure 5-star, which I'll cover at the end.First, as I've seen in some reviews, don't panic when the shipping boxes come all torn up. The outer boxes are just the armor for the inner boxes which are well protected, along with the contents. It comes in 2 boxes, and they are both pretty heavy, so plan to have help or use a small hand truck to move them from your front door to the place where you will be assembling. Both outer boxes were torn and beaten, but the inner boxes were in great shape, along with the contents.Assembly took a little less than 2 hours, but I did it by myself. A second person could probably take about 30 minutes off that time. If you are familiar with assembling these types of units, a single person can handle it as long as you are careful. I found that reversing steps 1 and 2 of the assembly process made the whole thing come together quite well. This was the 2 door version, so that means putting the dowels into the base first, then connecting a cross brace to each vertical panel, and installing them on the base one at a time from left to right. Once the 3 vertical panels are in, you slide the back panels into place via the slots provided, then drop the top piece onto the whole assembly. After that, it's just a matter of attaching the glass panes and hardware to the doors and popping them into place. The doors travel very smoothly (almost too smoothly) on the tracks. This is composite wood product, so avoid power tools and forcing things. If something doesn't go in easily, make sure everything is aligned and apply steady pressure.Once complete, installing the shelves and loading them up is quite easy. Regular DVDs/Blu-Rays and the newer box sets fit with no problems. A few older box sets which are slightly deeper caught on the sliding doors and can't be stored unless you lay them on their spine, which significantly reduces the number you can store on a single shelf. The unit comes with about 18 shelves. My unit is almost completely full and I have 6 shelves left over. I did not use this for CDs because I already have them in another unit, but if this was for CDs, I could see using all the provided shelves.I purchased the black unit, and the finish is great. There is a wood grain look, but it is quite subtle, so the unit goes well with some other more modern black furnishings. All told, I am very happy with this unit, and purchased it to complement the 3 door unit to handle the rest of my DVD collection. The reasons I removed one star from the rating (technically a half-star) is because:1) You get the exact number of each piece of required hardware, with the exception of the cam locks. You get one extra of those (probably because most of them are preinstalled on the wood pieces). The hardware pieces are very specific to this product, so if anything is missing or breaks, you're stuck waiting to see if you can get it from the vendor. (Note: this is not a ding on the vendor. I was not missing any pieces and did not have to contact them) The screws that hold the glass panes to the doors are extremely small and can easily get lost during assembly. A very small Phillips screwdriver is provided for those screws, but you need to use it carefully to avoid stripping the screw heads. Extra parts are just good customer service from decades of experience building pieces like this one.2) The back panels are a very tight fit into the slots provided, and any slight misalignment of the pieces makes it very difficult to get them in place.3) The unit is front-heavy when empty. A slightly deeper base or some form of weighting on the back would greatly help its stability on carpet. Once it is fully loaded, it is pretty stable, but is still a tipping hazard if the contents are loaded on the upper shelves without some counterweight on the lower spaces. The are no wall anchors included. I feel it would be pretty stable on non-carpeted flooring, and it is a bit more stable than the 3 door unit.4) It's about a quarter inch too shallow. Just a little deeper would make this unit capable of storing many of the odd sized DVD sets that are available. Instead, those have to be stored on top or somewhere else.5) The instructions are of the picture-only type, and the wood panels did not have identifying stickers to help ensure you are matching the pieces with the labels in the instructions. It's kind of intuitive if you have experience building furniture, but beginners might struggle figuring out which parts are being referenced on some of the steps.Like I said before, these are all minor issues - except the tipping issue if you have young kids around them. Since my unit is almost completely full, mine is pretty stable. I was happy enough with the large unit to purchase this one, which I have also reviewed. Both come in at the same rating, and I'm happy to recommend them both, as long as you are willing to deal with the challenges of building something this large.Feel free to comment if you feel I've left something out or you have questions about something I didn't cover.
