Can you stick this to plywood or would priming prior be best?

You can stick this to anything but water!! It has some real sticking power. I stuck mine to 12x12 floor tiles.

What is the thickness of the tile?

The thickness of this PVC wall tiles is 0.12 inches.

What’s the best way to cut around an electrical outlet/ lightswitch?

I removed the outlet faceplate and made a paper template and used that to cut the opening in the tile. I used a sharp box cutter for that operation. I hope that helps.

Can you install a shelf on a wall with this applied to it?

you would have to drill holes through the tiles
