Joking Hazard by Cyanide & Happiness - a funny comic building party game for 3-10 players, great for game night

Cyanide & Happiness, for those who may not be aware, is an online comic strip series. It features (usually two) stick-men, and over the course of three or four frames they play out an event which can sometimes be quite meaningful and moving, but most often dark and twisted. Joking Hazard follows a similar format to Cards Against Humanity, but instead of creating a joke with black and white cards, 3-10 players compete to create the funniest (and usually most offensive) Cyanide & Happiness comic strip. The box contains 350 cards, each depicting a single frame of the comic. Many are generic and innocuous, but when combined in the right way can become something altogether more horrifying! Unlike CAH, there are no black card/white card equivalents; everything is just of one single card type. Each player begins the game with 7 cards in their hand, and then one player - chosen through non-violent means, as dictated in the rules - becomes the judge for the first round. That player then draws one card from the top of the deck, and places it face-up in the centre of the table. The judge then chooses one card out of their own hand to accompany this card. It can be placed either before or after the first card, depending on what the judge finds most fitting. These two cards now form the "setup", and all of the remaining players now submit a card to the judge to be played as the final frame of the comic, and the judge must select their favourite to gain honour and glory (and also a point). Of course Joking Hazard will be primarily compared to Cards Against Humanity (at least until the Joking Hazard clones start hitting Kickstarter), and I have to admit I found it to have some advantages over its spiritual predecessor, and some disadvantages. The big advantage is that due to the storytelling nature of each round, the cards played have to make sense. I've witnessed several games of CAH where points were won by players just because they played the most controversial white card, despite it not fitting with the black card whatsoever. With Joking Hazard any non-relevant cards played tend to draw few laughs, meaning that even those most controversial cards have to wait for their golden moment! The largest downside is ironically in the same vain. I often find myself with setups which didn't work for any of my cards! Sometimes this was just down to nothing being suitable, but a lot of the time it was down to having a card with the perfect response, just being delivered by the wrong character. The Good Points: Joking Hazard is extremely easy to learn, pretty much taking just seconds. If you're a Cyanide & Happiness fan, this will tickle your funny bone in all the right places. Capacity for up to 10 players, making an excellent party game. Requires a little more thought than CAH or most of its clones. The Bad Points: As with CAH, some people will find it offensive. Sometimes it can be tricky to play a fitting card for the setup.

This is not a game for the easily offended. It's based on the Cyanide and Happiness series of comic strips, which uses tongue in cheek humour and offensive tones to entertain readers. The initial game contains enough cards to last for approximately 2 to 3 hours of play for four people. It lasts so long because of the number of cards provided and the amount of time spent cringing and crying (in laughter) in between rounds. It's very easy to play and the combinations of cards are virtually limitless. I've played Cards Against Humanity a number of times but find it has limited replayability because the words become familiar, however the beauty of this game is that it's a visual story unfolding and the ending card can really twist it in expected ways. The cards were a high quality print, though I noticed a bit of rough printing on the back of some of the cards. It doesn't bother me particularly, but other buyers ought to be aware.

They're fun, but not as good as CAH in my opinion.

We were all surprised at how funny this was. Being in a room full of teachers and accountants we presumed no-one had the creative juices to get this game flowing! Boy we were right. But these cards are so funny it doesn't matter! Your weak and wobbly sense of humour stands proud like Theresa in a field of wheat when Joking Hazard is providing the laughs. Get this. Play it with your kids. It's incredibly simple and hours of fun. (Disclaimer;don't play this with your kids).

Much like the games that followed Card against Humanity's success but with a more comic strip feel, this is both rude, hilarious and more than a little immature but is a great adult card game. If you're a fan of Cyanide and Happiness you won't be disappointed (I hope) and if you like inappropriate card games you'll probably love it, probably ;) I recently sleeved these cards and although it filled up the box (almost) there was still room for more cards, without sleeving the box is big enough to hold a few expansions as well as the main deck.

My husband, Uncle, eldest son and I spent hours playing this on Christmas day and Boxing Day Great fun and worth a giggle. Not as offensive as Cards against humanity but still some that people may find offensive. Definitely fun to play though, although needs a few more different cards as a few doubles in the box. Can also write a few yourself as some blank ones are included. 2 different types of rounds/rules to play too. Nice simple game to bring out from time to time.

It appears to be a very fun game, although the pack that we had delivered via Amazon seemed to have not been checked properly. Numerous cards had the ink smudged on them and a couple had rips in them, despite being new in the cellophane. Contacted Amazon who gave a refund.

Similar to Cards Against Humanity, but strangely not as offensive. Unlike CAH, you can put together some quite sweet, surreal and unusual combinations that can often win rather than the most ridiculous or darkest combination being the best. My only problem with this is the same with CAH. Game fatigue. It's so fun to play that the rules don't apply in terms of how many hands you play. Before you know it you're through with the whole deck, and also feel like the world should come crashing down around you as your brain slowly melts out your ears. Otherwise fine.

Hilarious game mature content. We have enjoyed playing this with friends and now our teenager plays it very funny.

Jeu très fun, pour les fans de Cyanide & Happiness ou simplement d'humour noir et trash. Règles simples se basant sur un joueur désigné "juge" devant décider qui des autres joueurs a créé le meilleur gag ou la meilleure chute avec les cartes à sa disposition. On peut également juste s'amuser à créer le meilleur strip sans règles. Attention tout est en anglais, il faut maîtriser un minimum pour apprécier (et avoir un sens de l'humour compatible pipi-caca-zizi-ultraviolence). La boîte contient également des cartes vierges sans dialogues, à compléter soit même.
