This lovely, enchanting chest was hand carved in Java from sustainable wood and can be used as a coffee table, toybox, clothes chest, ottoman or storage unit for shoes, umbrellas, etc.It features a traditional Javanese elephant design and would make a fantastic, handsome addition to any lounge, bedroom, hall or kids' playroom. The design on the top of the chest is the same as on the front. Please note there may be some small variations in wood shading/grain. All items are dispatched from within the UK, and we always take extra special care with packaging to ensure everything is delivered safely. We have been sourcing, importing and retailing furniture and handicrafts from Asia for almost twenty years. We have always run our business along Fair Trade guidelines, usually using small family businesses in Asia and recently Africa. Materials used by our producers are local and sustainable. Buyer beware....Cheap and nasty.
Cheap and nasty. Do not buy. Pretty to look at but as light as a feather and easy damaged. The slightest bump and pieces drop off...Not nearly solid enough...Do not buy!

It was quite a nice looking chest, but hand made etc, I doubt it. However, I ended up giving it to my son and partner.

Not only a storage unit but makes a great coffee table
This is a marvellous item. Not only a storage unit but makes a great coffee table. Fantastic value indeed. The carvings are so lovely and the finish excellent.
