Moldable Plastic Thermoplastic Beads 8OZ

These little beads of thermoplastic are pretty amazing. They become crystal clear when heated up and can be molded into pretty much anything you can think of. The plastic beads are about an average of 4mm in diameter and come in a vacuum sealed bag. There is an extra zip lock bag that is included for storage of any unused plastic (the silver bag that you see on the product page). The instructions say that you should heat up a cup of water to about 160 degrees F, then place the beads inside for about 2 minutes. I've found that this doesn't always get all the plastic up to molding temperature. You might need to either heat up the water about 20 degrees hotter or mush the plastic around so that every part of it heats up evenly. Hotter temperature water will work quicker, but be careful not to burn yourself! You'll know when everything is ready to mold when all the plastic becomes transparent. You should have plenty of time to play and mold the plastic to whatever shape you want. It does take quite a bit of time for the plastic to completely solidify, so the instructions recommend a bath of ice water for your plastic after you're done to cool and harden it quickly. If you missed a spot or need to add another arm onto your stick figure later, you can spot heat and join components without having to re-melt and re-mold everything. The resulting plastic decently tough, albeit a bit flexible and can be further refined with cutting or sanding tools. Something to watch out for when molding is some other plastics and materials will readily stick to the warm thermoplastic. Case in point, I was trying to make a phone stand and the thermoplastic was bonding to my OtterBox phone case when I was trying to shape it. All in all, I do recommend this product for its incredible versatility, ease of use and reuse, and affordable cost.

Honestly I don’t know why I didn’t hear about these beads any sooner. I have been wearing a gold grill for some years now. After a couple super expensive repairs I gave this product a try. The results are great but it’s not easy to make the perfect flipper. It takes patients and a lot of late nites. My suggestion would be to make a mold out of your teeth if that’s what you’re using this product for. I used clay and plaster. That way your gums don’t get abused in the process. Really is good stuff tho.

If you haven't bought this product yet, what are you waiting for!?!?! No, seriously, I have false teeth and obviously getting them religned at the dentist is super expensive. Heat a little bit of this thermoplastic up, add to the inside of your dentures, throw them in the freezer a couple mins to set and boom! Your teeth will fit better than the first day you got your dentures. That's not all, you can literally use this for pretty much anything. You won't regret this purchase so BUY TODAY!!!!

My phone charger had been fraying a lot and was hanging by a thread (literally) I googled how to fix it and I got a bunch of Sugru recs. I found those on Amazon but they're so pricey for how much you're getting but then I stumbled upon these beads, was hella skeptical about them, but thought I'd try them out and THEY ARE AMAZING. My phone charger is back to it's original greatness haha. The only thing I have to say is that when you take the beads out of the boiling water you have a super limited time to play with it until it'll no longer stick together. My first time around I took my time, got out my food dye, etc., but although the glue was still soft, it wasn't able to stick - so I couldn't mold it to my charger and stick the sides together anymore. The second time around I was way more efficient and worked super fast and the molding process was effective. Overall though, if you're not dumb like me (haha) I'd recommend this product! Was a great quick fix!

The product is great, its very moldable, not sticky,very durable.

When it solidifies, it's hard as a rock and really great for repairs. Things I've used it for so far: - Repairing a plastic refrigerator door shelf - Creating new feet for my pc tower - Creating new feet to keep my box fan from falling over - Fixed a flashlight battery compartment - Fixed my dog's kennel - Repaired an *ahem* anime figure that had a broke leg - Created a hook to hang my VR headset on And this was all with the 8 oz package. It contains much more than it seems, and you don't need nearly as much as you think you will. You probably won't be able to create very realistic sculptures or anything with it because it's pretty thick but "gooey" (think "plastic bubblegum" when it's soft), but for small to medium household repairs, it holds up very well. I gave it 4 stars for ease of use because it is pretty hot while you're forming it, and it has the tendency to "droop" just a bit when using large amounts, so you'll want to try to correct any drooping just before it hardens (it turns from transparent to opaque-white as it hardens).

Don't think of this as a substitute for Instamorph. It becomes very, very soft when melted, almost liquid. That makes it difficult to sculpt it into a shape. And once you have a basic shape, it's hard to refine that shape without losing everything you've done so far. It is also very sticky, so cleanup takes some work. Maybe this stuff would be okay to use with molds, but if you want a sculpting medium, I would not choose this.

Super easy to heat up in a glass cup, slides right out, hand knead it for a few seconds and it is ready to go. It is very soft when hot (though touchable) and seems to be workable for a few minutes. It doesn't harden instantly but I saw that as a plus. A few minutes in the refrigerator seems to get it close to full strength. It adheres to most of the plastics I have repaired but not to glass or similar materials. Excess is just pinched off and back in the bag for reuse. I wouldn't use it in an application that would consistently subject it to temps over 100 degrees, because once I had a bad repair and I could get it soft enough around the edges to pry off using just a concentrated blow dryer (albeit one that would have burned my hand if I had held it that close).
