Love these, they're fast enough for me until you get into really big files. Sending large files of over 100GBish will end up in thermal throttling. Other than that, they're still brilliant and i use them every day. Great value for money, good options for storage, silent operation.

I tested this using the USB 3 A-type adapter I ordered with it and got speeds in excess of 300MBps read and write, which compared to any memory device I've tested is by far the fastest USB 3 device I've tested. The reason I tested using the USB 3 adapter is that I got this to connect to my wifi router to use as a home cloud drive, which doesn't have USB C socket, and it's working superbly. It's effectively replacing my home cloud drive: originally had one of those western digital 'mycloud' devices, which has always been quite slow... then wd pulled support for the product leaving owners with a non internet facing home cloud brick as they shut down their servers... then the awful western digital device just fails constantly now, hence investing in this Crucial X6, and it has been an absolute winner in all regards. A perfect replacement. Being solid state it's quiet, fast, compact and runs fairly cool even when dumping onto it the complete backup from my original piece of rubbish (never going near WD again by the way). I've had a few Crucial devices in recent years; to name a few... five SATA SSD's to upgrade laptops, three sets of RAM for laptops, three M3 SSDs to again upgrade storage capacity of laptops... and all have been Crucial and all are still performing to the highest possible standards. Fast and reliable, and this X6 pocket sized gem is doing the same. For under a hundred quid for the 2TB device it's a winner all round in my experience, and given my experience with the Crucial brand in recent years I'm pretty certain this one is also going to be a worthwhile investment. Full marks in all regards.

Excellent hard drive, made it bootable and have been using it as my laptop's main drive for 2 months. No complaints there. Very small form factor, good storage capacity obviously, easy to slip into pocket and feels solid. The cable it comes with is terrible. I wasn't able to use the hard drive as intended, or even format it. It is very stiff/inflexible (more so than the replacement I am using now), which already makes life a little harder if not plugging into the rear of a PC. But that could have been OK if the USB-C plug in connectors sat securely. They didn't. The connection would drop every time I touched my laptop, and even some times for no apparent reason. Great hard drive, unusable with included cable (just buy a separate cable when you buy the drive).

Works well have several games installed on this, plugs via usb-c at the rear of my machine so dont see it, was a lot smaller than i thought but thats works for me, will fit in the palm of your hand. fast and responsive for gaming. no issues.

I was not sure whether to buy this or not because it is expensive but I am so glad I did. I have now had it for quite a long time and have found it excellent in use. With its small size, light weight, large capacity and high read/write speed I use if for making regular manual backups of data on a laptop so I am not totally dependent on cloud back-up.

Got this item for its Size and speed capability. Excellent size and speed for a SSD and excellent quality. Easy to use out of the box comes with everything in the box great functionality and design.

X9 1TB SSD 1050MB/s. A great, well-priced SSD for everyday use. Fast enough for photos and basic HD or UHD 4K video editing. Unlike the more expensive 'Pro' versions the body on this is made of plastic and feels slightly cheap, but for the price I can live with that. It looks like it has a limited buffer, meaning it can transfer smaller files very fast but larger ones will slow the data rate right down: using a MacBook M1 and BM Disk Speed test (see pics) with a 1GB test file I was getting a decent 1193 MB/s write speed and 766 MB/s read. However with a 3GB test file the data write speed slowed to just over 600MB/s (the read speed remained constant at 766MB/s). In real-world terms this won't be a problem for most people transferring docs, photos etc. as this is still really fast, but if you need to move large amounts of data (backing up huge video files etc.) you probably will want to look at the more expensive/higher performing variants.
