Cooking Comics!: Simple Skills, Fantastic Food

This is the most informative and interesting cookbook I have ever seen! The approach is so different. The idea is: once you learn the skills, you don't need to follow recipes anymore. You can use whatever you have on hand and make it taste great! The author explains the skill, then provides a recipe and instruction to illustrate the point. Speaking of illustrating, the art work is beautifully done. A perfect complement to the writing.

All the basics in clearly explained steps and reasoning. Great beginner book or for that cook who may need to review the basics.

Not only does it have good recipes, it defines and outlines techniques so even a novice like myself can make an awesome meal. The artwork is stunning, but beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. If you are a visual learner who wants to start cooking outside of the microwave, this book is an excellent platform to leap from.

This is a great cookbook. The recipes are excellent but simple, and the illustrations super helpful and fun. My coworker's 4th grade and tween daughters loved the "anime" concept and encouraged their interest in cooking -- way more engaging than black and white boring recipes.

My ten year old son loves this. He uses it all the time--creating real meals for the family. Probably the best book purchase this year.
