The 11th revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) is now published and all countries of the world will be asked to implement it in practice. The ICD-11 has made significant revisions to the classification of mental health disorders, which have real-world implications for clinical practice. This volume provides a clear overview of the major changes to the main psychiatric classifications that will have an impact on clinicians in their day-to-day practice. Each chapter is authored by an authority in the field, who has also been involved in the revision to the classification. The book also covers disorders that have been newly added to the ICD-11, such as Gaming Disorder, Binge-Eating Disorder, Complex PTSD, Prolonged Grief Disorder and more. This is an essential text for mental health professionals internationally, to help them make sense of the new classification, and how best to put it in to practice. Doesn’t deliver on its promise
“An essential text to make sense of the new classification and how best to put it in to practice”? This was the promise but reality is very different. This book is a deficient work that only scratches the surface of the new ICD 11. In some of the chapters (for example Personality disorders) the author seems more preoccupied with defending his stance than providing actual advice on how to implement the new ICD. I honestly don’t care about their personal opinions on the matter, I also have my own but that doesn’t change the fact that the classification is here to stay and we have to live with it. In depth Criteria would have been nice. Instead we get a book which seems to be written in between misguided meetings. The price is outrageous for this “draft” of a book. The 3 stars are for the rare chapters where the authors actually made the effort of trying to offer guidance or point out pittfalls to look out for in the new classification. All in all poor execution of a much needed guide. Hopefully the next years will bring better offerings.

Good balanced review of updates of previous editions
Very good and understandable read for students or people with an interest in updates in WHOs updates on some mental health conditions and some very balanced arguments for whether the updates are needed

Chuckled many times
A+ for snarkiness, but if you're looking for a lot of information, it's a bit light

Quick, practical and useful
Good, quick read, good intro into the changes for the new ICD-11 and assisted me with my Masters degree.
