I am glad we invested in the Platinum Pail for many reasons. The first being the ease with which you change out bag cartridges. You just pop it in the bottom (it holds two) and then pull a bag up to the top. This is so much easier than the original Diaper Genie. The next reason being that the bag refills and each bag lasts much longer than the other Diaper Genie version meaning less work. Also this Diaper Genie has a sleek look and is taller. It keeps the smell in fairly well. I’ve had a few very stinky diapers that would create smells each time the lid was opened, but once the lid was closed, it was contained. The price is a bit higher than the other models, but you get stainless steel instead of plastic and easier and longer usage.

Amazon delivered this Genie same day it was ordered. We were surprised at how well the Genie was packaged in the box. The use of plastic filled with air and shaped into forms to protect the unit. Loaded the plastic bags in the bottom, put the carbon air filter in top, fit the bag around the top and closed the lid. Wish we’d had one of these a long time ago. Don’t hesitate to order. Changed the bags for the first time this morning. Can’t believe how much it can hold and no smell.

There are a lot of reviews on this that don't seem to make sense to me. Some say that it breaks easily, other say that it's hard to use or doesn't work correctly. I personally think that this is mostly user error. Sure, there are going to be a small percentage that don't perform as expected, but I think those should be few and far between.We had the old original Diaper Genie and it worked great! We loved it so much that we decided to get another when our newest addition arrived. We did some research, and due to the "breakability" of some parts, we decided to get this one (stainless steel vs plastic). We are happy to announce that we are STILL Diaper Genie fans!A couple notes:1 - This new model loads from the bottom. It's not hard to load, but it's certainly an adjustment over the original.2 - We recommend getting the REAL refills (the ones made by the same company), but the knock-offs do work. However, some of the knock-offs might not protect against odor as well. If you purchase the cheap ones, do so at your own risk.3 - This loads from the bottom, but you pull the full bags out from the top. As such - DO NOT OVERFILL the bags. When removing the bags, open the Diaper Genie and step on the opening pedal. This will pull the inner flap down and allow for easier removal. However, if you have over-filled the bag, it may become very challenging to get the bag out without tearing.4 - When you throw diapers into the Diaper Genie, make sure the diaper goes all the way in. If it does not, the inner flaps may not close and odor may escape from the pale. If you cannot fit a diaper in the bag, change the bag. It really is that simple.5 - Finally, have a light foot - there is no reason to stomp on the opening pedal. Doing so may break the pedal... some of y'all don't know your own strength!This model is an improvement over the original - it's very easy to use... simply step on the pedal, throw the diaper in, and release the pedal. As long as there is room in the bag, the diaper will disappear, along with it's odor.100% recommend this!

Love love love definitely worth the money

I am currently pregnant with baby #4 and my third is still in diapers. The original Diaper Genie I received when I had my firstborn broke and I was on the hunt for a new diaper pail. I did some research and decided to give a different brand a try. My goodness was that a mistake! It was so flimsy! It also had no way to "pinch" the bag to help prevent odor from escaping into the room when you put in a dirty diaper, the pail itself was short, etc. After returning that horrible, other branded pail I was again on the hunt for a new one.I saw this newer Diaper Genie and was attracted to the stainless steel design. I also liked the idea of having pre-cut bags. With my OG Diaper Genie, there was always a random small amount of diaper bag that was leftover and wasted because of how the bag was cut. I was a little hesitant because of the price of the replacement bags; but, I decided to go for it anyway.This thing is amazing! I am so happy I went back to the superior brand, Diaper Genie, for a new diaper pail. If I ever need another I won't even look at other brands. They named their company Diaper Genie for a reason.I love that the bags are loaded at the bottom and you can just pull the bag out and immediately start fresh with a new one. Being 5'9'', I also prefer the height of this pail over others. I do not feel like I'm bending over as much to put the diaper in the pail. I like that this diaper pail is metal. It’s basically an upgraded version of their traditional plastic one (you can see in the pics I had the older version) unfortunately the latch on the foot pedal broke on my old one so I needed to upgrade. I like the aesthetic of this one better than my old one and the size is basically the same.Pros:- Metal is easier to clean- smell doesn’t permeate- pre-sized easy to tear apart refill bags (prevents overfilling)Cons:- You have to insert the bag refills from the bottom (underneath) of the diaper pail. Meaning you have to tip the whole thing over. I will say, there’s two compartments for refills so you shouldn’t have to do that very often. Definitely not a deal breaker, I just like how the old one was kept in an upright position the whole time.- If you own the older model like I did, the ring refills unfortunately aren’t compatible. You have to buy the refills specific for this diaper pail.- You have to be gentle when you pull a new bag up and go to put it over the little metal hooks on all 4 corners. They can rip sometimes but I’ve never had a problem with it staying even if I accidentally rip one of the 4 corners.These are the only reasons I took off one star. But overall I do really like the product and would recommend it.

We started using this Diaper Genie a couple months after our daughter was born, and it's honestly saved our nursery from smelling like a diaper bin. Before this, we were using a regular kitchen trash can with a lid, and even taking the bag out daily the room would still get that lingering ammonia smell by evening. The odour-locking mechanism actually works, my mother-in-law came to visit last week and was standing right next to it while changing the baby and commented that she couldn't smell anything at all, which for a diaper pail is basically the highest compliment. The hands-free step pedal is also great at 2am when you're holding a baby in one arm and don't want to fumble with a lid. Refills aren't the cheapest, but given how well it contains the smell, it's worth it for the peace of mind in a small nursery.

Honestly diapers genie is the perfect pail for those stinky baby moments. I had a different brand before this purchase and I honestly should have known better that there is no brand better than diaper genie ! Simple, clean design. Works flawless unless she stuffed full of stinky ones 🤣 and I love the little area on the inside of the lid for an odor control pouch!

We upgraded to the Diaper Genie Platinum after struggling with an older secondhand version, and the difference is night and day. This one is sleek, easy to use, and just works. The foot pedal is smooth, refills are simple, and it holds a surprising number of diapers—we only change the bag once or twice a week. The blue color is also a nice touch—it actually looks good in the nursery. I’m pretty minimalist when it comes to baby gear, but this one earns its spot. Total game-changer.

Demasiado alto, no me gustó

I have 2 different Diaper Genies, and this new Platinum model is waaaay better than the old one! We also have the Complete model with the round refills.First - taking out the full bag and replacing it with a new one is so easy. And the roll of bags that came with the Platinum lasted us 4 months! Meanwhile, I went through 6 refills on the Complete model in that same time frame!! 😳Second - zero smell and sleek design!
