Amelia and Eleanor Go for a Ride

A nice book!
I heard about this book and it was a good buy used. My nephews love to play quietly and have books read to them when they come over. This one was a hit! Btw, I had read previously that Eleanor Roosevelt was pretty brave and extraordinary previously in a book when she met Clementine Churchill who also was right there along those lines.

Great Book
Interesting book to add to my children’s book collection. I hope my granddaughter will enjoy it as much as I did.

Great Gift for Little Girls
As the parent of a curious 5-year-old, I've been disappointed by the scarcity of historical and biographical books aimed at very young children. My daughter had an interest in Amelia Earhart since she first saw her "red plane" at the Smithsonian, so I took a gamble and bought this book for her at Christmas time...and she loved it. In fact, she liked it so much that she's insisted on giving it to several of her girl friends as gifts. It was a big hit with them as well. In fact a couple of their mothers have asked me where I got it (Amazon, of course), and whether the author has written any other children's books. The story is simple, fun, historical, and symbolically significant (without being didactic or political). The black and white illustrations are interesting to look at, and very detailed (even the pattern on the White House china in the background is historically accurate). With their colorful personalities, and the strength to defy cultural expectations, Amelia Earhart and Eleanor Roosevelt make great role models for little girls -- and it doesn't hurt for them to understand that the freedoms they will surely take for granted in their lives were won for all of us by women like these.

A winning combination of art, literature and history
I am not usually an advocate for black and white drawing in children's books as I feel strongly about introducing color in art. However, this piece of art and literature seamlessly evokes another era with its story and drawings. Amelia Earhart and Eleanor Roosevelt met and this event actually took place so the excitement of bringing history to life with a real plane ride will thrill readers or listeners, especially if they can view the drawings simultaneously. Highly recommended as a read-aloud to 3rd through 5th graders plus anyone with an appetite for stories about early flight!Sybil Blazej-Yee, a librarian, an artist and a children's book author

Julien's Review for Amelia and Eleanor Go For A Ride
The media could not be loaded. Amelia and Eleanor Go For A Ride is one of Julien's favorite books. The book has very bright and detailed black and white illustrations and great descriptions of the interests and lives of two amazing women from the 20th Century. Young readers who may not be familiar with one or both of these figures will appreciate their achievements and sense of adventure that this book shares. A really great book for adults to read with kids. Check out Julesandmetv on Youtube for more book reviews.

Love this book!
I love this book! this and a little plush plane is my go to baby gift now. I love the strong female role models presented here for young girls and young boys alike, and the retelling of a story that is new to most parents as well. Beautiful illustrations, fantastic story - all around a wonderful addition to any child's library

Cute book--even has a recipe
I wanted a girl-empowering aviation book because I'm taking my favorite 6-year-old to the new Disney movie for her birthday. This fit the bill. The only place it mentions Amelia disappearing over the ocean is in the Author's note. We'll be going to a fancy lunch, so the dinner theme ties in well, too.The book has a happy ending, inspiring message for young girls, beautiful black and white illustrations, and a recipe for Eleanor Roosevelt's angel food cake at the end. What could be better?

Great female role models and exciting story
Bought for my niece (age 4) but have had a sneaky read first with my children (age 6 and 4) and they loved it. Beautiful illustrations and great to show women doing exciting and adventurous things. Tempted to keep it will have to buy another copy!
