Design $ Spent On Strong Basic Powerful Features That Work, Not Fancy Extras, Keeps Price Affordable
Excellent size for single or double-user Extremely user friendly Powerful, relatively quiet, 5OOw motor, more power than most smoothie products, for this price 2 separate blade assemblies, one for blending/smoothies, one for grinding seeds, nuts, coffee beans Very easy to thoroughly clean all the parts. Included are 2 large, tall, travel or home convenience smoothie containers with one, easy to screw-on 4-blade basic blender/smoothie assembly. These containers are slim, so easy to hold with one hand because of non-slip rubber sleeve grips. They have non-leaky lids with hinged sip lids that screw right on to where you unscrew the blade assembly. It only has one keep-it-pressed-for-On front pressure button/plate, but I use a strong rubber band around the unit that holds the press-plate in, to keep it running without having to hold my finger on the plate, and can attend to other kitchen duties while it blends, no problem, and an easy-peasy solution, and the rubber band I chose matches the color of my kitchen! Custom design lol! IMHO, the design money was spent this way on the well-built and powered motor, strong blade assemblies and hardy well- built, easy to hold containers instead of a lot of fancy specific on/off buttons, and consequently has kept the price affordable. This has one strong speed only, and yet it does the job thoroughly and quickly. Also included is 1 smaller cup with a different, also easy to screw-on 2nd 2-blade flatter assembly for seed, nut and coffee bean grinding. This feature seems to work good, better, when you fill the cup up as opposed to just putting in a few tablespoons of seeds, nuts or beans. It's a small cup, so you won't have to worry about grinding that much extra if you fill it up. Takes a little more practice than the other smoothie feature to get it right. Pulse the push plate more to get it all started before you put on the rubber band to keep it grinding until satisficed, or not. You may want to experiment first with just holding the plate on manually, pulsing, and watching how it is grinding at first. Then maybe when it really gets going, and after observing, if it seems to be taking more time to get the grind you want, to save you from having to just stand there and hold the button in, you can then put on the rubber band the next time you grind, because you've experimented the first time manually to see how long it will take. But the effort will be worth it. Especially since so many other products that provide this feature are much more expensive. It's worth the extra attention to get it down right here, again, IMHO. I contemplated buying a blender, but after much research and comparison shopping, I chose this because of its well honestly-written specs, its size and price. I only prepare food for myself. Not a lot of counter space in my kitchen. This product is Excellent for these reasons. I received it very promptly after ordering, well-wrapped safely for shipping. I have been using it daily now for a few months, and it continues to hold up to the use without any sign or sound of wear. Excellent product that is proving to actually bring enjoyment, again, IMHO! Thank You!

AMAZING Blender! 1 button does EVERYTHING!
I've been using this 1 year from today and it's still going STRONG. The 2 different blades are amazing. One is for grinding spices, oatmeal, seeds, nuts, etc...The other is for blending. It's perfect for making my plant based milks from scratch. No chunks or leftover bits. STRONG and powerful blending for daily use. I'm sure it's perfect for smoothies too! I used it to make homemade ice-cream from frozen fruits and loved it! Hoping it lasts another couple of years. If it does, I'll update my review, for sure!

Not the best choice for a smoothie blender . . .
Let me begin by saying I did not purchase this to make smoothies. We have a NutriBullet for that. I'm a guy who bakes and cooks with allulose sweetener instead of sugar or artificial sweeteners. The holidays are coming and many of my recipes are going to call for powdered/confectioner's sugar. That form of allulose is insanely expensive ($10-$20+/lb here on Amazon.com), and I buy granulated allulose wholesale in 25 kg bags for less than $5/lb even with shipping from the East Coast to CA. So I needed something to grind the allulose into powder form. The NutriBullet doesn't work for this, because the blender needs to be shaken while ginding. So looking for a hand-held capable device, I came across this kitchen tool, and purchased a "used-like new" device for more than $7 less than a new one, and figured I would give it a try. I could always return it if necessary as a Prime member. It was delivered in less than 24 hours. When I unboxed it, the item had obviously been taken out of the box, but it also looked like it had never been used either. On first glance, this seems a little bit like a kid's toy (perhaps the reason it was returned). It is lightweight, and the motor base won't do well if it gets knocked off the counter, but it's not a toy. It's a pretty decent blender. I was able to powder about 5 lbs of allulose in 3/4 cup batches in about 35 minutes. I did have to shake the blender nearly horizontally, but it did exactly what I needed it to do. I would probably not recommend this item as a "portable" blender for making smoothies or other beverages, because it is a corded tool. There are any number of others in about the same price class that offer rechargeable battery power, which means you could take them to a park, the beach, or anywhere you didn't have access to a 120vac outlet. Most also offer blender jars with screw-on lids and bases. Here are the pros and cons: PRO: (1) low price, (2) high-speed motor, (3) thick-wall blender jar, (4) reasonably easy to clean, (5) friction-fit top doubles as a travel mug spout nol likely to come off accidentally or leak (but the sliding closure is not leakproof), (6) the blender jar locks fairly securely into the motor base, and (7) the power cord wraps neatly into a slot for this purpose built into the motor base. CON: (1) corded, not portable to a location without AC power, (2a) the blade assembly is integral to the blender jar and cannot be disassembled for cleaning (2b) if the blade or blender jar breaks, you might as well throw the whole thing in the trash, (3) the motor base is not likely to survive being knocked off the counter, it's pretty lightweight plastic, (4) the friction-fit blender jar lid does not come off easily . . . ladies, you are highly likely to break a fingernail trying if not careful (watch the comparison video with the NutriBullet and you'll see how the demonstrator struggles a bit with taking the lid off the empty jar -- imagine doing this with a full jar . . . the manufacturer's video doesn't even show this step, which ought to be a clue). I rated this 4-stars because it is a capable blender. It will make smoothies and other blended beverages. But I think there are a number of better choices at about the same price point for a new item. I simply opted for the 33% discount because it met my objective. If you, like I, have a need for a larger capacity grinder for spices, grains, seeds, or nuts, this should work well for that. But if your objective is something portable to make smoothies, I would look elsewhere.
