A History of US: All the People: Since 1945A History of US Book Ten (A ^AHistory of US)

This book shows its bias in multiple ways but what sticks out the most to me is its treatment of Joe mcarthy. Now I know that McCarthys behavior was rude and obnoxious and didn't show his evidence as far as I know, but this book claims that almost all of the soviet spies had left before McCarthy began his hearings. First of all, one spy is too many, how would you like it if someone stole from you, would you call the police,even if he only did it once. Second of all, aside from a few live conflicts such as the Korean war and the Vietnam war, the cold war was mostly an arms race and a contest to spy the most. Wikipedia states that there were multiple spies and spy rings discovered in the 1980s, and many of them passing the information to the Soviet union. Another website "history is now" reports of another spy ring in 1957. This is an important conversation for joy Hakim to get so wrong. The book has a very liberal leftist slant. I don't agree with most leftist tenants, but debate is one of the spices of life, so lets have at it in a civilized manner instead of stooping to cussing whenever possible. The book is right in that one can believe whatever he likes but the communists often were very subversive, and were actively trying to undermine the U.s. and Stalin of the USsr killed more than double the innocent people that Hitler. Communisms goal was to sweep the world, and scince the Soviet unions brutality has been unmatched by almost any country, and scince the Soviet union was communist; communism is not something I want to take over my country. If you don't believe me about communisms goal to be to sweep control of the world, then take a while to really study the subject. If you want a high quality history book get Abeka book "United States History Heritage of Freedom" they are usually right.

We purchased this for our Sonlight Homeschool Curriculum. The order arrived quickly and was in the expected condition as described by the seller. This history set is the most amazing I've ever read. I joke with the kids that I am learning more from their homeschool curriculum than I learned in public school as a student and even later as a teacher! These history books give you the full story and yet are written in such an interesting and captivating way!

Super series and super book. Makes history come alive. However, this is the most boring of all the books. Having lived through many of the events, I find her writing balanced but boring.One MAJOR complaint against the later books is that she confuses democracy with affluency equality. They are very separate, and she blurs lines there that can become dangerous for the mindset and worldview. Otherwise, EXCELLENT book and series.

The is the BEST series by an amazing storyteller. Author Joy Hakim writes in such a way that middle school --and upper elementary students can read and appreciate history. I would purchase every book she ever wrote and will write. A+

This book completes our set. They are easy to read, contain interesting, off beat information you wouldn't find in other history books: they're awesome. We have/are using them as part of our US History curriculum. I am using them with a high schooler and he loves them.

I read it with my 10 year old son to,learn American history

My 16-year-old son reads his books for fun! He loves how it is written in the story like form with lots of interesting facts and pictures :-)
