NCIS: Los Angeles - Season 1 [DVD]

I got this DVD set as I did not see the original series; it all now makes a lot more sense! I got prompt service from the provider, but the box arrived in a damaged state - in just a padded bag; the spindles holding the 6 DVDs were broken, so all the discs were loose. However, before reporting this damage, we tried playing some of the discs and they seem to be undamaged and play OK - thank goodness! Tim A.

Excellent entertainment, of film quality in terms of stunts and settings. Likeable characters, brilliant photography. I have since bought series 2 - 8. However, the downside is that the sound engineer must have been asleep most of the time as some dialogue is muffled and unintelligible. Technical production should take a leaf from the Law and Order book. Hence 4 stars

NCIS LA has everything a great show needs.Most of the stunts are made for real by the actual actors. What you get is what you see. Thats amazingly cool, considering the fact that the series has many many stunts.The actors play a group of witty cool people. They sometimes seem to live their roles, they do a really great job. They embody a wide range of different characters and sometimes they have to change their role for undercover work. Especially Chris O'Donnell who plays Callen does a great job here, and shows that he is an outstanding and versatile actor.Apart from the various cases the team has to handle, you also find many episodes on the past lifes of the team members. You get to know them better on the one hand, on the other they stay quite mysterious, because you will notice that there remain many riddles unsolved. I think that this mixture between unsolving the mysteries and at the same time keeping the audience in the dark is what makes the series interesting, because you really want to know whats going on, while you receive the bits and pieces every now and then.There are various bonus features on the dvd, including the spin-off (Legend part 1 and 2). That is great, because you get the complete series from the beginning. You do not need to buy the corresponding season of ncis to get to know how the team was introduced.A witty series, full of action and suspense, you dont wanna miss.

I was hesitant at first - how can you get better than Gibbs? However they have changed the basic relationship between the characters in LA so they bare no resemblance to the relationships in NCIS. So although its of the same franchise, they have little in common with each other. Its witty, quick paced and all the characters are brilliant. They did not do them justice in the cross over episodes in NCIS when they were first introduced. Watch and you will not be disappointed.

At first was sceptical , new people . New cases , totally different to ncis , no Gibbs , did not like , epsisode one two three , by episode four starting to like it , don't compare it to ncis treat it as a different show , just finished serious one and I love it , can't wait to order series 2 ..... really good show , actors are fantastic , stories great

I like NCIS i'm not a huge fan but i do like to watch it, i had heard about this one and managed to catch an episode on sky last year. I was very impressed it's smooth and full of action the characters over the season really come to life and the relationships between them all is very believable, there are some great little plots throughout, a few giggles and the underlining story is revealing itself bit by bit. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of csi or ncis you will enjoy it, i am currently watching season 2 on sky tv and it's every bit as good and in some parts better than the first season and i will be pre ordering season 2 as soon as it's available.Hope this was helpful. :-)

Fed up waiting for the next series of NCIS to come on Freesat channels so I thought I'd take a look at this. I'd read a few reviews that it could take a while to get into so bearing that in mind, I started watching. Was hooked on it immediately. I miss Gibbs but as long as I don't think that he should be in this because it's NCIS, I'm happy. Good stories - nice blokies to watch too and there's a plot running through the indivdiual episode stories which is interesting.

What a great spin off from NCIS!! Don't compare it with NCIS....nothing compares to that but base it on it's own merits. It's brilliant!! The characters are all so different and interesting, from G who knows little about his past to Hetty who seems to know everyone.I highly recommend this DVD to anyone who likes fast adventure,humour and quirkiness.I can't wait to see how series two shapes up!!!!
