Can it be powered on all the time?  I'm attaching it to an Echo Dot to drive two speakers.

Well. Since I bought it it has been on 24/7 and so far so good. It powers our remote tv speakers (wired). I wondered that also before I bought it.

Description states "speaker impedance: 2-8ω". so does this mean i can use it to power two car speakers in a box i could build?

Impedance is 4 to 8 ohms, not 2-8w. Yes you could power 2 car speakers, but don't expect to drive 2 6x9s at a decent volume. The listed output is 20W x 2  RMS(root mean square) so what this really means is about 10 watts per channel 20 watts peak.  To this put in perspective, I am using this as an amp to drive to 2 two inch 4 ohm 3 watt full range speakers for my desktop arcade machine. With the speakers in an enclosure they are pretty loud at just a little past half volume and sound decent.   But you will get a slightly better output from a pair of 3 to 4 inch full range drivers at 8 ohms 5-10 watts as they will move more air. Just note that the 8 ohm speakers will start to bottom out/distort a little past half way on the volume knob. Anything bigger than that,  I can't tell you how they will sound, but I can tell you I am happy with the purchase and it makes my PiCade sound and look great.  Thanks for the question.  Cheers!

I want to use it with my alarm in the morning so if I leave this on for 8 hrs without feeding it any input will it turn off on its own?
