Sewing Clothes for Barbie: 24 Stylish Outfits for Fashion Dolls

This book is just fantastic. The author really put together the easiest, cutest outfits to make.Never made any Barbie clothes before & barely have that much experience sewing but this has been easy enough for me to understand without making me feel slow.I also found a couple of videos on YouTube where a couple of the author's designs were made.The Garden Dress from this book & then one from the Haute Couture, Boutique, which I just ordered that book & will be here tomorrow, it has patterns for Ken, too.🤴I'm just having ggreat time & have shared my experience with this book with a self taught hand sewer of Barbie clothes.I trace the pattern I want, u have a choice of size, too, for each pattern as these days barbies are in different sizes, curvy,etc..I'm so looking forward to the days when when I give my completed outfits using the materials & accessories I chose that were different than suggested ones in book.Starting to get crafty & even adding to them.This is just such a great hobby for myself & sharing what I learn with others & most of all, looking forward to the day I 🎁 these works .I've got a whole workstation now.It's been great way to spend the winter when nothing better to to do than chill & create.Hope the Author does more books, my opinion, she does the best with telling you exactly the supplies you need & easy patterns without alot of additional unnecessary pcs. , easiest instructions & layouts of the important steps in the book without making the instructions for 1 PC. overwhelming g & confusing.This will leave you feeling like you really made something cute & unique. really nice book! Patterns are easy to copy and put together. Many of them can be sewn by hand. The instructions are easy to follow altho you migiht want to modify the fit on some oof the items.

I bought this book to give as a birthday present to a 10 year old friend along with some scraps of fabric. A few days later, she and her older sisters made a dress for her doll. Her mom said they all loved the book. I liked it because the patterns didn't seem complicated and there were a variety of styles, she could make and instructions to fit different her fashion dolls.

I am a seasoned sewer who started sewing Barbie clothes when my daughters were little and I am now sewing them for my granddaughters. This book has lots of variety and mix and match options. I have only made one outfit so far but it was easy to follow with good instructions. The next dress I wanted to make is the At the theater dress...pge 82. I don't see a pattern piece for the skirt part of the dress. Can anyone out there help me? Am I missing something or have others noticed this?

I have been sewing clothes for Barbie doll for several years. I have scoured the fabric shops and Amazon for patterns, when I saw this book at the beginning of the year, I could hardly wait to order it! I now have it and after looking through it I have to say that it was most likely written for a beginner seamstress. The patterns are full-size in the book, which is a big plus! No messing about with printers! The clothes are fairly simple and there is a good variety. Pants, capes, purses, dresses and skirts and a few nice gowns and fantasy costumes.. Most of the clothing is pretty contemporary. Barbie doll's body has changed over the years, the newer patterns from many books, including this one, will not fit the 1960s Barbie dolls. I find that the clothing is not especially well fitted, you will have to put in your own darts and seams, which should be very easy, to make the pants and shirts/bodices fit properly. All in all, I like this book. You can mix and match the patterns to come up with your own fashions, play with different materials and use a myriad of trims, as I do, to make Barbie sparkle! This is a perfect starting out book, for a child with some sewing knowledge or an adult who is tired of trying to find nice, well made Barbie clothes!

Very nice sewing book it is very easy for me when I was learning how to sew and I recommend it.

Wish I had read the reviews closely before buying. The very first thing I noticed is the sizes are in cm, not inches. There is no explanation how to read and apply patterns. Patterns are too small for modern dolls. The very first skirt I tried to make (bohemian skirt) would not go over a Fashionista's doll's hips. I tried making the skirt twice as directed, both times it was too small and a waste of fabric. Ended up making my own pattern and using two extra gathering stitches than the instructions recommended to get it to fit. Okay as a guide for an experienced doll clothes maker, but you have to do a lot of extra work in addition to converting the measurements to get the clothing the right size and to get clothes to fit. Too much work for a beginner.

This is just what the sewer for Barbie dolls has been needing. In the past for years Barbie doll has basically had the same figure so patterns for sewing worked well no mater the year they were produced. But recently with the introduction of the new body shapes of tall, petite and curvy to the regular Barbie doll figure has made sewing doll clothes more challenging to fit correctly. This book offers many pretty style outfits with multiple patterns for the various body shapes of the new dolls. The patterns are of course rather simple so they can easily be made for which ever doll you want dress. The challenge here is to trace off the size pattern you what to use from the page where they are superimposed one atop another. Each pattern size is distinguished by color and is best traced over a light box. The problem is that since the book is bound, the pages are difficult to lay over the box. I don't want to damage the book by tearing out the pages, so perhaps a loose leaf binding would make tracing the patterns easier. But still a delightful addition to the world of sewing for the worlds most popular doll.
