Very smart build

This lego is expensive for my budget but my son really wanted it as a present for his birthday. He is obsessed with Ninjago and he really liked this lego. He assembled it by himself and still plays with it.

A Lego set based on the Ninjago dragons rising TV series, this one includes two action figures which are combinable, along with five additional minifigures and arrives in the traditional Lego oversized box. Item arrives in branded lego box which is also suitable for gifting, box is traditionally oversized, which is great to represent value if you can gift yourself, not so great if you need to post it. The item is based on the Lego Ninjago series, it already has a comprehensive assortment of additional sets available, meaning there's plenty of future sets that can be added at a later date in order to build your universe. The set includes five minifigures, these are always a welcome addition and in my experience these represent longevity in play value, sometimes even more so than the actual building of the set. The main figures here are slightly more fiddly to build than standard sets, this is largely due to many specifically manufactured brick shapes, it should be noted that this is intentional, as the set is aimed at slightly older children than standard sets. Construction of the main two included characters took me and my grandson around an hour and a half, we didn't rush and I let him do the building but supervised for mistakes, he loved the fact that once complete he could combine the two main characters. I personally found this set a bit restrictive in it's replayability (as it's not a school, fire station or other town building, however my grandson absolutely loves it, so what do I know. Seems Lego designers hit the nail on the head with this one.

This 764 piece set by Lego is another from their Ninjago series, this one is different though in that it has 2 x separate ‘mechs’ which can be combined to make 1 x giant ‘Team Mech’ - the set also has 5 x mini-figures, these being Lloyd, Erin, Imperium Guard Commander, Imperium Claw General and Rapton. These mini-figures are very well detailed when you consider their size, and they have some interesting weapons between them. This set is aimed at older kids of age 9+ which I think is about right as it’s a little bit fiddly in places. The pieces are all in 7 numbered plastic bags, this helps you to identify the pieces that you need - the instructions are very clear and are very easy to follow. It’s quite a methodical build process, everything ’grows’ as you go along - it’s very satisfying when the ‘sub assemblies’ come together. There are a number of stickers that you need to apply, it’s best to do these as you go along - make sure that you take time with their placement as it’s not too easy to remove and reposition them. The smaller of the mechs is relatively simple to build, however the end result is pretty good. The larger of the mechs is ‘more complicated’ but it’s very rewarding when you’ve completed it. Both mechs look great and are very posable, they each have articulated joints which give a good range of movement, which is great for play or for when they are on display.
