Looks good and excellent extraction rate
There were no problems with delivery and the unit arrived within expected dates. I replaced like for like. So the installation was fairly straightforward. The original Airflow 30 lasted for 7 years. I think it would have lasted longer if I had carried out more regular maintenance by carefully cleaning the rotary blades every 3 months or so. The use of baby powder after a shower is the main problem. The fan is more expensive than other fans, but it has neat styling, no back draught when closed, and very good extraction power. On the down side you have to purchase a separate timer unit if you want the fan to continue operating after it is switched off. The timer from my original fan worked without any problems. If you are thinking of replacing an existing 100mm fan, just be aware that the hole diameter in the ceiling will need to be increased, although the fan still connects to a 100mm flexible extraction hose. Do your own research are check out installation videos.

noise level
All installed in a kitchen. It looks good and the function of opening and closing is good. My only issue is that it is quite noisy when fully open. Having said that it is no noisier than a conventional extraction fan although the reviews and blurb said it was reasonably quiet. Overall more things positive than otherwise.

Great extractor fan, but makes sure you have enough wire to reach the connectors
I bought this as a replacement for an iCON 15, which failed. I didn't bother trying to fix it as I'd been looking to upgrade it anyway due to condensation issues in the shower room. This is almost twice as powerful and isn't noticeably louder than it's smaller cousin. In operation, it works really well at removing the steam from our shower room. Definitely an improvement on the smaller model and well worth the extra money. I bought this model as I wanted something that would fit the existing 100mm duct. Just be aware that if you want this to be flush mounted then the first part of the duct needs to be bored out to a larger diameter to accommodate the rear element of the fan. As a result, I mounted it with the skirting supplied, which then pushes the fan about 5cm further out of the wall. Not an issue, but it does mean that the power cable will also need to be that much longer when connecting it. Therefore if you have a short cable coming out of a tiled wall, you'll need to be able to extend it. Last thing, if you want this fan to run on (as per building regs) then you'll need a control module to fit as well.

Hate it
Well I guess it does what it says on the tin... however on the quieter speed (which is why I bought it) the air flow is very poor. I fit the fan with the back-draughts shutter fitted and at 2am I had to get out of bed, torch in hand after turning off electricy, and remove the back-draught fan - every time a gust of wind blew the flaps banged against the fan - not a gentle noise but one that'll keep you awake. Without the back-draught shutter the wind now blows through which might be a problem when it's colder. And finally - the instructions - OMG the writing's so small you need magnifying glass - impossible to follow. And the dip-switches on the fan are so small it took me a while to figure that they even existed. For £90 - to me it feels like a £30 cheap and cheeerful fan. In truth I hate it! And an update. I emailed the company to ask how to change the speed. The instructions are so poor it’s impossible to figure and believe me I tried. Well, 24 hours later no acknowledgement of my email and my guess is I won’t get one. I put a single sheet of toilet paper up against the fan just to see how much suction there is - it barely registered and if I let go of the paper it fell to the floor. The fan is turning and granted it is very quiet - but a quiet fan that doesn’t extract very well and a supplier uninterested in email enquiries. Give this fan a miss. Finally - after 4 weeks and four emails I managed to change the speed of the fan. It's not a switch or anything simple and absolutely nothing in the instructions that arrive explain properly how to do this. It required fine tweezers, dexterity and a hope that you're not breaking anything. My honest opinion - give this fan and this company a miss. Their emails to me to try to explain were as bad as the original instructions. Their instructions could have said (but didn't) "Phil, the pins, or jumpers, that require reconfiguration are buried behind three very tiny and individual black plastic covers. They are hard to see but are located in the top right as per our picture. You'll need a fine pair of tweezers or very small pointed pliers, and gently ease each of the plastic covers off of the hidden pins. Don't worry they feel fragile but they won't break. You then need to replace the plastic covers in the order shown in the included picture. I hope that helps - if not, there's a video here....) - You see... simple communication.

Lovely and powerful
This fan is quite, quite excellent: When taking a shower, the humidity module (I installed this fan with the humidy-and-timer module, purchased separately but also from Amazon) automatically turns on the fan and by the time I step out of the shower the fan has extracted enough humidity from the bathroom that the mirror isn't even steamed up. This is in a 4m x 4m bathroom. Also, the slowly opening and closing iris mechanism has a delightful look to it. One word of caution: while the fan can be fitted surface-mounted using the "contoured skirt" provided, it looks rather ugly, protruding from the wall by about 9cm or so. To look good, it really needs to be fitted flush to the wall. In my case, that involved removing a chunk of wall around the existing vent hole to provide enough space for the fan's motor housing to be seated inside (15cm across by 8cm deep). Since every local builder I approached had core drills which could only cut a NEW vent hole, rather than widening an existing one, that meant a few hours work myself with cold chisels, brick bolsters, masonry drills and a masonry hammer. Definitely worth doing, however, as the fan now looks good and works extremely well.

The ideal bathroom/lavatory extractor.
Easy to install and is quiet and very powerful. Setting up the options for the timer and other preferences is difficult because the switches and labelling are so small that much better than 20/20 vision is essential - or a magnifying glass. The downside is the backdraught shutter which clatters in a high wind to such an extent that I fitted foam rubber to quieten it. This means it leaks cold air into the room in a high wind, but the noise of the shutter would otherwise be intolerable. (All backdraught shutters are like this, so it's not so much a criticism of the fan as of the inability of fan makers to come up with anything better than this.) I have fitted a cowl on the outside of the house and this is a great help. But I must emphasise that this is the best extractor of its size I have ever used, and remarkably quiet.

Once bitten………
I have purchased two of these. The first lasted about six years before it became unacceptably noisy. Discovered the impeller had come loose on the shaft. Contacted Icon who said they do not supply spares and the fan cannot be repaired. Ordered a replacement which has lasted 18 months before it also became noisy and vibrational. Will not be purchasing a replacement and have opted for an alternative premium make which is significantly cheaper. I have the smaller model fitted in a toilet about 15 years ago which is quiet, but not particularly effective.

Better than my old one
Seems decent. Got this for my downstairs loo as my old one was very noisy and never actually stopped ever. Easy enough to fit and I like the speed/run-on options. It’s not as super quiet as I expected and after a few months I’ve noticed a bit of bearing noise which I’ll have to keep and eye one so knocking a start off for that, but it’s better than what I had before and looks nice

impresionante extractor
